I bought SN from CCS around a month ago but didn't keep the bottle in any sort of airtight container. I asked in another thread and was told my SN was probably good, but I ran an aquarium test to be safe (measured out around a gram of SN, mixed it into a liter of water then took 10mL of that solution and added that to a new liter of water). I realize the nitrite reading seems kind of far from 10 mg/L, closer to 5 or even 3, but the nitrate test seems to have barely picked anything up which confuses me because I thought nitrite turns to nitrate as it degrades. Does this seem okay to use? If so, I've been planning to CTB this weekend or at least some time in the upcoming week.

i kept it in a box (but not ziplock) for about the same time. How soon can it lose its concentration? Never opened it....

That does seem a bit light to me. When I did my test the nitrite was clearly the darkest color. I did 5g SN into liter of water, then 2 ml into second liter (like the ppeh). Did you mix the bottles well?

Was it ccs that you tested? I have mine from about a month ago and haven't even opened the box because the whole website just seemed sketch to me so I assumed it was bunk, or nitrate.

It was year old SN from DD. I bet this stuff will last years. Shame it's not available anymore.

How do you test with 4x 500ml bottles? What to adjust? Water amount to equate 2x of 1L bottles by combining 4x 500ml bottles or SN amount?
