I know I have made many nostalgia threads but isn´t anyone else obessed with nostalgia? I think you could almost even consider it a mental illness to me because I am so obsessed with nostalgia and why wouldn´t I life was so much better as a child such a carefree life without any stress or responsibilities just pure paradise, so is there anyone just 1 single person who can relate to how much I miss childhood I would really like to talk to you so I am not so alone in this :aw:

Feel free to PM me if you truly think you are obsessed with those amazing years in paradise <3

Yes! I get the feeling. I do miss my childhood. There were a few traumas but nothing like now. I would give anything to re-live those moments. I miss the times when my life was actually good before everything spiraled downward into hell. To be care free, worry free, and pretty satisfied with life. I never had to worry about money and life was wide open...I had hopes and dreams back then. Yes I miss my childhood :(

Ohh, yeah, for sure. I even miss my cringey scene kid years in middle school and freshman year lmao. I thought my mental state was bad then... :P Before that, I truly did have a charmed childhood. Lived in a beautiful home on the suburbs of a major city and went to the same school until I was 12. Had a good family life and a lot of friends, hobbies, etc. Miss that.

Also, hell yeah on The Sims 2. Miss my old N 64. Paper Mario was one of my favs.

i listen to a lot of vaporwave even though i wasn't alive for the 80's or 90's lol, but the music gives me a sense of nostalgia for things i've never lived through or experienced, and i enjoy it a lot

And a step further, Is vaporwave based on an 80's and 90's that actually ever existed?

certainly at least an idealized version of the 80's and 90's, lots of shit was going down in those decades but people in general tend to remember the good stuff from the "good old days". Vaporwave is also a bit of a criticism of consumer culture, with stuff like mallsoft that idealizes the mall and going shopping, buy buy buy. Such a fun genre of music to listen to and talk about lol

Nostalgia is all about reliving those times when we were still happy, which is why I too like it so much. But it also makes me sad knowing those times will never return.

certainly at least an idealized version of the 80's and 90's, lots of shit was going down in those decades but people in general tend to remember the good stuff from the "good old days".

It is heavily idealized in that it is the creation of a time and culture that never existed. The longing is for a world that never was.

Vaporwave is also a bit of a criticism of consumer culture, with stuff like mallsoft that idealizes the mall and going shopping, buy buy buy. Such a fun genre of music to listen to and talk about lol

It's also a criticism of high tech where a society which is approaching what it sees as global interconnectivity would long for the days of its technological beginnings and perhaps find it more enjoyable to connect with.

Yeah, I have pretty much no interesting memories or things I can fondly look back on from the last ten years or so, at least. The past decade feels completely empty - devoid of good music, games, fun, or anything enjoyable at all really. It's as if it didn't exist.

Anytime I watch Netflix or YouTube, I automatically fire up an old show or song. I'd rather watch a movie I loved years ago many times over than try anything new. Same with any sort of media - I play video games from the 90s again and again.

All my pleasant memories in general are from when I was quite a bit younger.

Part of why I want to ctb is the remote chance I might restart from an earlier save point (so to speak) and unfuck this mess.
I mean you can't rule it out, can you?

I often hope that the moment I pull the trigger and die I will wake up as a child again like all of these years stuck in this hell was just a nightmare.

I do the same I rarely watch anything new I watch the same series over and over again my computer is 9 years old so it can´t run any new games but they also don´t appeal to me, video games has lost their charms and it all seems so generic and boring. Even yesterday I played a little Call of Duty United Offensive it was the first Call of Duty game it came out in 2004 and several days ago I played Max Payne 2 again it came out in 2003.

New music is out of the question, I have found a few songs in the past few years that I really like but I mostly just listen to old songs from my childhood or teenage years.

Me nostalgia about many things. I'm obsessed also. Nostalgia about many things and even tiny details. Food, games, anime, music, electronic devices and gaming consoles, locations outside, restaurants and many other things. I get nostalgia also about when I was having lots of money before and doing whatever I want. I just can't count the stuff for nostalgia, many things.

Its not necessarily a distant past thing but can even happen with recent past.

I don't think its a mental illness. Its the realization that life sucks. Life sucks so much that it turns any beautiful moment into a sad and painful nostalgia. Its a brutal time machine that kills everything. Everything ends and that's why we get sad and filled with nostalgia. If we cry for both negative and positive experiences and everything will end, whats the meaning of all of this? What is it but a torture machine?

Maybe I wrote much and not organized well but thats how much I'm obsessed. I just can't describe it. And the pain worsens every new day. I need to leave this fucking life.

Cool, I can simulate experiences too. I can play old games and feel like living in that period of time.

I don't mean to be an ass but I actually have an intense dislike for nostalgia. I guess my past sucks, so there is no joy at all in trips down memory lane.

I think that's one of the main problems for me.

I remember I had found a word that described what I feel more accurately than "nostalgia"; it's in some gaelic dialect but I completely forgot what it sounded like.

If someone knows what I am talking about please help lol
