I was when I was younger. If it wasn't for WoW I'd be dead.
Now I'm waiting for PoE2, new PoE content is in fact the only thing that makes me feel excited anymore.

Damn I wish I could stay laser focused on one game for at least a month. I cycle though various obsessions to distract me from my pain. Usually they're old comforts that I just lose interest in only to drift back to later, but occasionally they're something new. Right now for me it's a Minecraft modpack that I've drifted back to but I'm already beginning to feel my declining interest which is just terrifying.
Well I like to play League of Legends too (surprise)
I was rather addicted when I was a teenager but not too much today.
Honestly I would like to be addicted again, video games are amazing
But they can be harmful for your health too, such as pmo
It's an easy fix/distraction that prevents you from accomplishing anything of actual substance or value. Sometimes, distraction is all we can manage to do in order to keep ourselves alive so they're a necessary evil. I think if we (the addicted) had the motivation to accomplish anything else, we would be able/willing to kick the habit.

Have you tried to use it as a reward? That's assuming you don't want to stop completely. It takes some false starts but you can turn it into something you only do after you've accomplished some things. The key is not to make the to do list too ambitious and to accept false starts.
I guess I don't want to stop playing because it remains a pastime...
The thing is, I can make a difference between the state of mind of me as a teenager who felt bad when he couldn't play and me as an adult who just feels bored when it is the case. But that's just psychological. The problem is when playing video games affects the body : I'm thinking of the professional e-sport players who fucked their arms or who get diabetes after playing 7/24 in their twenties, especially for MOBAs.
