psychopaths are often extremely optimistic, which is part of why they are so magnetic, and why people, including vulnerable people, gravitate towards them.
a psychopath is actually really unlikely to commit suicide, unless possibly if backed into an extreme corner (ie, in a war and about to be captured, and just being calculating to avoid more pain) or having a terminal illness, etc, because psychopaths don't really get that depressed, not really. they are optimists!
generally, psychopaths are not trying to specifically commit criminal conduct, it's just that empathy is completely zero part of the equation for them in any choice they have. So for a psychopath, if killing 100 people means they get 100 dollars, and they are sure they won't get caught, they'll kill those 100 people. But, a psychopath also does not go around looking to kill 100 people typically, unless they have some sort of extra issues or neurosis or fetish that results in killing creating pleasure in their brain. Many psychopaths are successful and don't commit crimes. Many psychopaths also become drug addicts, due to empathy not being a part of any calculation in decisions; this includes empathy for their future self, hence drug addiction. Shockingly and interestingly, many psychopaths die at younger ages, and no one is sure of why, so a psychopath may live until 50 on average. I'm not quite sure of that data, however. Some people theorize it has to do with immune differences that also cause psychopathy, and it's also unclear whether psychopathy is a type of damage or actually a different sort of "phenotype" of human.
a sociopath, on the other hand, often violates the law because their emotions are so extreme that they can't conform to societal expectations, such as laws. a sociopath is way more likely to seem borderline (with extreme emotions they can't control). There are also criminals who don't have extreme emotions and aren't psychopaths or sociopaths.
it's very unlikely there are psychopaths on here, unless having a terminal disease or dealing with extreme poverty and just being unwilling to deal with it anymore
fun fact: psychopaths and sociopaths are now lumped together under Anti-Social Personality Disorder because DSM clinicians are fucking idiots!
It is nearly certain there are sociopaths on here, but psychopaths? Seems pretty unlikely except for terminal illness people visiting. But those types may be more likely to gather information and never post.
also, it's a really interesting question as to whether there's a link between autism and psychopathy, but as far as I know, they are different, so if you have autism, any lack of empathy is likely not the same as psychopathology
