I just don't get why you are saying don't bother with antiemetics when clearly they help
Everything I've read here has said everyone vomits. They all do it within 5 to 10 minutes after drinking it. I don't get why people take them for this reason. Everyone who vomits has taken them. I guess I just have a habit of thinking about things.

After reading about how some people get tardive dyskenia after just one dose of meto, I wouldn't take that one.

what's it called?

@Racon
you quoted this:
Mirtazapine significantly improves pre-existing symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and irritable bowel syndrome in afflicted individuals.[97] Mirtazapine may be used as an inexpensive antiemetic alternative to Ondansetron
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ondansetron
but i was prescribed Mirtazapine recently for anxiety and when I posted asking whether it would work as a meto substitute several people said no.

are we now saying it's suitable? (for pairing with N btw)

going off what stans guide and other people say I don't think that would work because it isnt a dopamine antagonist, which is supposedly a requirement for it to be "effective"

I guess that brings us to another big question that people want an answer to. Does a non-dopamine antagonist anti-emetic provide any degree of usefulness? Are they worth taking rather than nothing at all or is the effect completely null?

^ this.

does it require mere research, or does it need trial and error?

Promethazine is a antihistaminic in low dose but act as a antidopaminergic in high dose.
I used it for sleep and took 50mg which already is a fair high dose. But when I exceeded this dose (75mg) I couldn't sleep and felt nervous, restless because the antidopaminergic effect kicked in.

Doesn't seem like much of a problem to get meto...there are loads of online doctors willing to prescribe it...after all it's not a controlled substance...

Where I live ( Brazil) it was pretty easy to get it, I just went to a local pharmacy and asked for meto

You know what, seriously, is there something besides meto that actually doesn't give you a freaking tardive dyskinesia as a side effect?
I just watched some of these videos and read people's comments.
Apparently, you can start twitching from this medication very quickly, maybe even before you have a chance to drink SN.

I'll probably do it without Meto. I'll just puke and drink the 2nd glass. Fuck it.

I dont know about evidence and such but it's really interesting thread. In UK Drs dont prescribe like they seem to do in US - you certainly can't go to the GP here and get antipsychotics for e.g. But am already prescribed Aripiprazole so be good for me if worked as anti emetic. Better stop chucking it away ...

so let's talk about antiemetic's,

everyone on this forum seems to agree that metoclopramide is the go-to antiemetic to be used alongside sn... why exactly is that?

I've been doing some research with my tiny little brain and here are three categories of commonly used antiemetics:

Surgery
(serotonin receptor blockers, dopamine receptor blockers, and some corticosteroids.)
  • dexamethasone (Decadron)
  • droperidol (Inapsine)
  • granisetron
  • metoclopramide (Reglan)
  • ondansetron (Zofran)
Chemotherapy
(serotonin and dopamine receptor blockers, NK1 receptor blockers, and corticosteroids.)
  • aprepitant (Emend)
  • dexamethasone (DexPak)
  • dolasetron (Anzemet)
  • granisetron (Kytril)
  • ondansetron (Zofran)
  • palonosetron (Aloxi)
  • prochlorperazine (Compazine)
  • rolapitant (Varubi)
General nausea & Motion Sickness
  • dimenhydrinate (Dramamine, Gravol)
  • diphenhydramine (Benadryl)
  • meclizine (Bonine)
  • promethazine (Phenergan)

Sources used: www.medicalnewstoday.com

Stan's Guide lists these medications below as the recommended antiemetics to choose from:
  1. Dromperidone
  2. Metoclopramide
  3. Olanzapine
  4. Alizapramide
  5. Chlorpromazine
  6. Prochlorperazine
What makes metoclopramide supposedly so much better than all of these other drugs that I listed? From what I've read meto seems to be one of the riskier antiemetics due to the fact that it can cause permanent nervous system damage such as tardive dyskinesia.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I personally want to discuss the option of using Promethazine as a antiemetic for those who have the easiest access to it and it seems to be very common.

The following information is sourced from: https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/agricultural-and-biological-sciences/promethazine

Going off this information wouldn't this mean promethazine perfectly fits the description as an effective antiemetic to be used alongside SN?

Can we also discuss Benedryl (diphenhydramine)? It is an antihistamine that has antiemetic properties and is available over-the-counter.

P.S. Sorry if this post is looking kind of messy I'm writing it from my phone and suck at writing in general. This thread is not meant to start any arguments I just want people to be informed and also debate about how effective or how ineffective other alternatives are as antiemetics.

also admin can you please unban me from using the chat feature I'm sorry that I got angry and yelled at someone, I was having a bad day. I wish you would have just given me a warning :/

Love you guys <3

Antiematics are prescribed for: e.g. migraine, pregnancy, reflux, motion sickness, travel sickness, chemotherapy.
If any of these apply to you, your doctor might prescribe you an antiemetic.

I don't suppose anyone knows whether expiry dates are crucial? Online- obviously it advises not to use medication out of expiry date. But then- it would- it means more money for big pharmaceuticals. I know some meds are harmful after a time period. I expect others lose their potency. My Meto is already a few years out of date. I'm hoping it will still be ok though if/when the time comes. It's not like I really expect anyone to know but I just thought I'd ask...

From a chemical point of view there are differnet possibilties either the substance is instable by itself and it "decomposes" to a lower state of "energy" by itself over time, or a substance is affected for example by the presence of oxygen which is a strong oxidant. The best way is to keep any substances is in a cool, dry and dark place. There are substances that can even change their consistence when they are affected by light / radiation.
