Venting Am I Crazy?

I can't tell anyone my story, so I'm sharing it here. I'm going to keep my details vague because if that person uses this website, I'm done for.

A week ago, I was at a friend's house and we were having a great time. At one point, they were like, "I'm crazy!" and I was like, "I'm even crazier than you." To "prove" it to them, I suggested cutting their name into my skin, and they said yes. They gave me a knife, but I didn't do it there because the knife was pretty blunt, and I promised to do it later.

Then I went home and four days ago, I did it, and I don't even know why. I told them today, and they were like, "What the hell did you do?" and so on. Afterward, I just said I didn't do it even though i did ,because I didn't want to look weird or anything. Am I crazy for doing that?

Gonna be real with you chief, that is not what someone would usually do. I still do not think you are crazy, I don't think anyone is crazy, I cannot judge your situation and I'm sure some people think even I'm crazy. It is odd though <3 Keep your chin up and stop carving yourself up. Much love!

yea no gotta give you that i totally agree that this is not something aynone would do in this situation

not sure why that person acted surprised when they handed you a knife before to do it with. that part confuses me. as someone who self-harms, the cutting isn't strange to me. what's strange to me is that person egging you on and then being shocked when you did it. is that someone that you want to keep as a friend? no judgement if you do, just something to think about.

I asked myself the same question because they didn't said it once, but I think I want to keep them as a friend
I also think they kinda meant it as a joke or some kind

As someone who's done exactly this when I was 17/18 I will say by an outsider's definition you are unhinged. But... Personally, though I'm not a medical professional... I would assume you are dissociative and probably suffer from something like psychosis or BPD. A lot of people with anxious attachment styles do some wild things that other people would never do in their entire lives.

If you need someone to talk to my DMs are always open, I'm not claiming to understand your mind I'm just coming from a place of understanding of doing wild shit and then wondering why the hell I did it. But in the future to respect your friendships and most importantly yourself I highly recommend to not self harm under any circumstances.

I'm not a pro lifer but self-harming only will affect your self-image more and more and it's counterintuitive to whatever goals you have in life entirely undeniably.
