I hate this. Like, are we supposed to stay alive just to face tests and trials? For what reason? Why should we willingly have to stay alive, knowing even more suffering is coming? I think that saying helps suicidal people feel more motivated to die.

Yea exactly! They treat suicide as a sin to make themselves feel better . They have so much hate that they can't even love the people who need it most. It really seems these people only love themselves.

i would think the whole "test from god" type theories are pretty much just survival techniques

both for the person saying it and for the people they are hoping to save. in a world where nothing makes much sense at all, people need to create some sense for themselves. there are many religious families who have suffered horrific situations, yet they still keep their faith. why???? because their faith is the "only" thing that keeps them going. nothing else in this mortal world can, so they obviously rely on the one thing that does

as for someone saying it to a suicidal person, what else can they realistically say? they cannot understand how a true suicidal person is feeling, and they cannot for one moment say "just die then". the amount of tears i have cried for one member here, is ridiculous (they are coming again right now as i type). seeing their profile makes my heart physically hurt. and yet, i understood their wishes. part of me still tries to be happy for them, but the only way i can be content at present is to block them out of my mind or to tell myself that their posts and timeline means they could not have really done it. if someone who is on this forum looking for methods feels this way, how can the average person accept losing someone they love. it is not possible for the average earthling to deal with it or understand some people's suicidal wishes
