Sorry to dip out and not answer any questions or clear things up; Depression and Alcoholism did its thing but harder, and I've tried (and failed) a couple times since then to just go through with it and ctb. I'm still working on getting my shit together, but I carry my regulator knob on me at all times for both my own comfort and safety of my housemates who might stumble upon it and get a "bright idea" or something. Feels like having an extremely unorthodox key on me.
A third assisted run through the bag where I had a whole minute from start to ejection was done as well the other week, and it all still stands. I made a point to not speak as much and tried to focus on relaxing a bit, closed my eyes n got a little comfy with it. The loss of consciousness still hit the same, and the only memory I can recall is what feels like a dream where every thought is a garbled mess that, in the moment, felt coherent. Whatever my eyes were fixed on at the moment of LoC seemed to impact it in some way?
Hey, I'm glad it worked for you. But more that you are here to talk about it and share your experience. I failed mine. So just have one question, the placement of hose within the bag? How high did you place the mouth of the nozzle within the bag or if possible share a photo of just the exit bag? The reason i am asking this to ensure the bag gets completely filled with n2 and the chances of residual air left within the bag decreases.
Thank you so much.
The nozzle is maybe 2-3 inches up inside the bag from the hem, secured with three pieces of micropore tape. When worn, the hose is behind your head. As the mega thread states iirc, the preferred tightness of the bag should be fully taught against your forehead as the bag fills with gas, and simply pulled down over the neck with minimal adjustment, enough give to slip a couple fingers into it.
Thank you so much for sharing, your description of it being a cozy experience is reassuring. How tight was the bag on your neck? Did you feel any CO2 buildup?
See above for tightness. CO2 was not an issue at all, I didn't feel any kind of hypercapnia or suffocation, just a gentle slipping out of consciousness.
How did you make your exit bag? And did you let it fill up?
Bought an empty 40cuft tank online (thought it would be filled, my bad lmao), filled it up at a local welding supply store. Bought an 8ft welding hose and a regulator online from eBay and Harbor Freight respectively. I believe the megathread has more info on the regulator. The elastic cord could probably be sources from any fabric store, but my sorry ass bought it for $2 plus $15 express shipping online and now I won't stop getting emails from the store lmao. The cord lock could probably be gotten there as well, but I inexplicably have multiple lying around. The oven bags and tape can be gotten from any grocery store.
Filling up the bag would be necessary to test out the whole hypoxia thing, so yes? Unless I'm misunderstanding the second question here.
Greetings, may I ask what brand/model hood or exit bag you chose?
I did the same in having a friend to pull the hood off; this was unnecessary however as while my 02 dropped I was still concious.
Thus, I would like to enhance this with a better point of delivery.
Thanks
See above for my own sourcing of materials, but I followed the megathread as a guide.
wait, im jsut trying to understand...
you're saying the practice went perfect, over all expectations, and THAT made you want to live? i mean that's great obviously, but it just confused me, or maybe i misunderstood
It was kind of a Scared Straight thing. The pleasantness in the execution of the whole thing from start to "This would be out of my hands now otherwise", the smoothness of it all, it was unsettling yet comforting knowing that the option is there. Imagine BASE jumping to get a feel for free falling and imagining hitting the ground instead of having a bungee cord. Maybe a bad analogy lol
This is my preferred method. I'm unsure of how to go about getting everything necessary and how to set it up. I do not want to go out suffering. I wish someone could help me as far as step by step guide. I don't know where to start.
Megathread can help you with everything but gas sourcing. That's something you must do locally, unless you live somewhere where home deliveries of 40cuft pressurized N2 tanks are an option.
