• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Once you have the required amount of messages, it will automatically appear in the top right corner.
Another nonsensical feature of this site.... Invisible secret barriers that you have to bypass in order to access a basic function on the site. The rules in Wonderland make more sense than this.....

It's not secret at all....... It's literally discussed in the original post of this thread.

You mean this part?

Why can't I access private messages, chat or the search bar?
To do that, you need a certain amount of contributions - we can't tell you the exact number. It doesn't matter if those contributions are comments or threads, both count towards the threshold amount. Do not spam low-effort posts though unless that fits in with the nature of the respective thread (e.g. posts asking members to post in one word what they are feeling).

If you don't tell someone what the limit or boundary is, it is for all purposes invisible. If you know but say that you can't say what it is, that makes it a secret. I had to go looking through this thread to find the answers because it wasn't mentioned in the initial greeting.

hi, i have a question about privacy settings…

what exactly counts as "profile details" and what becomes visible to others when this is set for example to "members only"?

also what does "view your identities" mean here? i'm just trying to understand which parts of my profile are public or private depending on these options

profile details is your whole profile. so your bio, your post history, and your profile page where people can leave comments. for example, i had my profile locked for a week and when you clicked on my page it would say that you couldn't see my profile.

leaving your profile locked is good for privacy reasons, but you can leave it unlocked so people can leave messages for you. members only means only people logged in can see your account page when they click on it.

"view your identities" mean here?
you can change your username, and can toggle who can see your previous username or set it on "nobody" so no one can see it.

I made a thread on this a month ago, just gonna pop it here for other new members to see (also there are 2+ year old members who didn't know about this and had their profile inaccessible to others the entire time). They really don't make it obvious to the user. Anyway, here:

I got like 6 suicide hotline type sites per page when I used DDG and a lot of random unrelated crap too. Do I have to have a minimum post amount to unlock the search function or will it unlock with time regardless?
Combo of post and time ig.
They added those... hotlines, but they at least are easy to skim over... idk if there's ublock code to block it tho
