Were his eyes open when they closed the lid on him?
They practice slowing down the heart so who knows if he was dead or not. They seemed to assume he was. They don't bury them as far as I know, they chop them up for the vultures. But it varies probably how they handle the body.
I've heard of Buddhist monks slashing their own throats to commit suicide.
