• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

    👉 View the ledger here

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

There's a game called We Happy Few and in it there's a drug called Joy, it makes anyone who takes it instantly happy, to the extent they'd see a corpse as someone sleeping or something else that's 'happy' if Joy or something like it existed would you take it? I've been thinking about this myself for a long time and just want to know what other people think

Nope. I'd rather be non existent than take such a drug.

Assuming that the effects are temporary and that it wouldn't cause any negative long-term side effects, I would probably try it out. I would never it take regularly though. You feel negative emotions for a reason and being in a constant state of extreme joy kind of sounds hellish.

I was born with joy... Oddly, that's my middle name too. I was born a happy child, did everything with happiness, even when I was struggling... It does exists, but if you mean to say this world to be transformed into joy temporarily? Fuck no!! It will still pretend and forget it's the problem. I don't need that. I want a real world with joy, this shit is not it!!

Edit: maladaptive daydreamer who gaslights herself here and whimsical soul who cultivates stories and love art :D

The effects are temporary each pill lasts a few hours. The only 'side effect' is the chance you can become a downer, someone who cannot take joy anymore. Essentially your body starts rejecting it

I came into this thread thinking you were referring to the Joy from the Lisa series, which makes the person who ingests it feel nothing and eventually transform into a bloodthirsty and disfigured mutant.

I wouldn't. It seems like the Joy in WHF just forces you to hallucinate that everything is okay. I prefer genuine misery over fake and transient happiness that I would have to chase with drugs.

I've never heard of that series, I'll have to check it out.
I have a similar reason to not take it as you, but sometimes I wonder is any happiness would be better than none

No, I'd never wish to suffer in this torturous, futile existence no matter what, as long as I exist I'll only hope and wish to not exist, I personally don't believe in the idea of happiness of existing rather I see existence as an abomination that just causes suffering all for the sake of it and problems there were never a need for with no limit as to how much agony one can feel, I'll always find it the most cruel burden to exist and it's a burden that only eternal nothingness can bring me peace from, the fact that this existence was even imposed is a tragedy to me.

no, i can't see myself enjoying life even if there was a magic pill for my depression. i would want to take something that masks it even more.

If my body has a chance to become tolerate of it and/or starts rejecting it, I wouldn't do it. If there were no side effects and wasn't expensive and was sustainable I would take it often as that is at least better than being depressed most of the time tho if I was more able to ctb I would do that instead.

No. Then I would be like all those people telling me to look on the bright side and that life is beautiful. I don't want to be delusional.
