Imagine tomorrow everyone would decide to never procreate again. Even if someone was pregnant she would decide for abortion. What would happen for the last generation? I think the economy would soon collapse. Capitalism needs work slaves. The pension system would be destroyed. If this would happen very apbruptly it might backfire for the current generation.

On the other hand I think when humans learn more and more about science and reach progress many people will decide to stop procreation. In very well developed countries the birth rate is very low. If artificial intelligence will take over a lot of work the generation that reduces/stops procreation will have less disadvantages. However I think there will always be humans that want to procreate. Even if it the child has a horrible future. WIth the climate crisis it might have a very bad future
In my country there are a lot of new climate antinatalists. Which is good.

Yep. If there are no people then you can not have a society.

Probably. I am a sworn anti-natalist, but a lot of that has to do with the fact my parents fled a warzone and my childhood.

Yes, I think so. As you said, society would have no more workers. Eventually there would be nobody left, if everyone stopped procreating. The way I see it, it is better to never be born in the first place. Life is just unnecessary, we were all perfectly fine not existing. To never exist means to never suffer.

Well, that would effectively shut down society in the next generation and probably lead to an anarchist collapse since there'd really be no point in even maintaining a society anymore

If you haven't read the benatar's book, there's an entire chapter about extinction and he argues that a phased extinction might be preferable, to minimize the suffering from the last ones.

To be antinatalist you have to be purely selfless. I told my grandmother "by not having children I am preventing a generation from ever experincing suffering, sadness and all the worst aspects of life. All the times I have been depressed my future child will experience this how is that fair."

It is absolutely cruel to bring a child in a full of so much suffering and evil.

The human race would end if everyone became antinatalist but most people are too selfish to do this. People have children for the wrong reasons ie vanity and conformity to society instead of love.

I think it would be good for the survival of the planet as a whole if two thirds of the population were suddenly sterilized. There was a sci-fi book i read a while back where a scientist engineered a virus to do that. It was a pretty good book, and a great idea.

Stablewater I told my grandmother "by not having children I am preventing a generation from ever experincing suffering, sadness and all the worst aspects of life. All the times I have been depressed my future child will experience this how is that fair."

It is absolutely cruel to bring a child in a full of so much suffering and evil. When I was at university In a law class we had a discussion are humans altruistic or selfish? My answer was more selfish because if human beings were altruistic the world would be a better place. War, poverty human trafficking and suffering etc are all products of human selfishness.

My family and people think I am crazy if I make points like this. I have been told I will change my mind and I am going through a phase.

How I am crazy for wanting a world without suffering?

Antinatalism will end the human race as now new generation will be born. Most people are too selfish to adopt antinatalism because too many people have kids for the wrong reasons ie vanity having a mini me, conformity to mainstream society, wanting just someone to take care of them when the parent's grow old.

Majority don't want to make the sacrifice whereas I will. I am preventing my own generation from being born so they will never have to experience suffering in the future.

No texas means no cowboys for me to laugh at.

Heretohelp virtual hug for you. Your families story reminded me of my former neighbour and my mums friend.

Story time

When I was child there was a family i used to hang out with in the neighbourhood. There was woman who I called auntie Diane, she lived with a younger girl who I would play with and a much older woman in the family.

When I was at her house Auntie Diane was such a lovely woman always happy, laughing and she was so nice . I loved visiting to that house.

When I grew old enough to understand my grandmother and mother told me she survived the Rwandan genocide. They told me her friend put her in the boot of a car which drove out her out of the country and in to Kenya . After Kenya she ended up in Belgium and eventually came to England.
She no longer lives in my neighbourhood the last I heard of her she had a child.

My mum was telling me about her again when hearing about the situation in Afghanistan in the news.

Her story shows we all could be living next to people who fled war and not know it. These people are human just like everyone else and worthy of dignity and compassion.

BTW I am an antinatalist I was since I was 19 because I am worried what our world has become.

Definitely not crazy. You're a good person for thinking like that and I completely agree with you. I mentioned that book's chapter because it summarizes the consequences of human extinction for the last humans and makes a long discussion on the topic, proposing what he calls "phased extinction" as a mitigation. Personally, I don't agree with him on this part, because i think that even societal collapse is preferable to creating new generations of people.
