Somebody told me that a ceiling fan would break if a person hanged from it full suspension. Is this true? I'm contemplating at least attempting suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in my house but don't want to have the whole thing crash down...that would be a ticket to the psych ward and very unhappy parents.

Looking at my ceiling fans, they definitely wouldn't be able to hold my weight. I think you should find a different place..

Probably. Home ceiling fans don't look like they could support the weight of a person, especially for as long as hanging requires.

No ceiling fan would support your weight and you'll just end up with a hefty repair bill and looking like an idiot.

Have you tried a towel rack? I know it sounds silly, but for me it's perfect for partial suspension.

There are pictures that show it yould work. But it depends how good the fan is fixed, and it also depends from your weight. I would not risk it, but it´s your decision. There are better places to hang from, like a tree

A towel rack? I actually thought about that, and it would be perfect for when I'm in my dorm and worried about my roommate coming in because I could just lock myself in the bathroom. But I was told that those things rip out of the wall really easily. I was even told that children rip them out of the wall sometimes, so I don't really know if I want to risk that...

That depends on your bathroom ofcourse - mine is able to hold my weight perfectly. Give it a try I'd say, just try pulling and hanging onto it with your hands to see how sturdy it is.

If you have a roommate it´s better if you hang yourself on any other place. Hanging is not noiseless and you caught be revived for about half an hour after your hanging.

Yes, as others have said, it would probably break.
Remember, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is fiction
