I don't know how this site fully works yet but I hope this post is in the correct place.

After a decade of slow and painful waiting for "things to get better with time" I've finally made up my mind. I live alone in a 5 story apartment and my preferred method of CTB would be free falling, something about the few seconds of air time feels freeing.

However I don't know if 5 stories would be enough to do the trick. I live on the top floor and I could probably get access to the roof if needed.

Thank you for taking your time reading this.

That's nowhere near high enough for a successful jump. You'll only disable yourself.

You're fairly likely to survive and become severely injured at that height. I wouldn't consider anything less than a 100m fall.

Well, really depends on how you land (head or feet first), what the ground is like (concrete or grass), how far the nearest hospital is away, if helicopters can land close by, are there many people walking by? I'd say the chances are decent from 10 stories onto concrete head/chest first but even then... The terminal velocity would be reached after 400-500 meters free-fall, so yeah. A lot can go wrong.

I see

I know of an abandoned water tower near a hiking trail that is very easily climbable, I estimate that it's about 50 - 60 meters tall.

The hiking trail is not as populated anymore due to winter being around the corner and the weather isn't ideal for hiking atm.

That could be more ideal since it's in the middle of a forest so chances are slim that people would be around.

Would that work or should I reconsider my method?

Ehh, maybe. Many died from less, many others survived more. For me personally, way too many variables that I have 0 control over. Lying there with shattered legs and spine on a desolate trail, potentially suffering for many hours? Not worth the risk for me, but that is something you have to decide for yourself. Landing in grass, dirt or bushes is just a big gamble, especially if the ground is not perfectly flat.

This water tower seems to be tall enough. At least 46m is needed to be fatal when you land on the ground. Please make sure it's really 50-60 meters tall.

You might want to look at the post of shatteredspine. He jumped from a 4 stories building and survived. It seems like only old people die from low height falls

I knew someone who jumped from 4 stories and ended up in wheelchair for 2 years. She now walks with severe limps and pain. Is incontinent and she has brain damage that have given her mental disabilities amongst other things. She cannot live alone anymore and barely has any autonomy.
So I'd say if there even a shred of doubt possible I wouldn't try it.

I was afraid of that being a possibility, although I don't see any other option since I can't get over the thought of falling like a fallen angel.. it feels calming

Maybe I should take SN before leaning over and letting go just to be safe.

Nah actually I think I will eat some toothpaste before jumping, that seems more reliable

Like others said I'd stay away from jumping honestly. Too many risks. I'd rather go out pain-free.
Also toothpaste would not do much. In that thread people say you would need to eat a lot of it, which is hard.

I think the toothpaste is a joke. There was a recent thread on here.

5 stories has a 50% survival rate. I don't like those odds.
