Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Is it normal for me to want those close to me to witness it happen when I CTB? There's almost something poetic about it and I don't know quite how to describe it. I was wondering if anybody feels similarly or has something to say on the topic.

When people get MAID they get to have their family around. I know people who work in MAID and administer the drugs, and they say it is one of the least traumatic ways a person can die. In my opinion, the reason death is so scary is in part because it is not controlled and most people do not want it. But when someone wants it and has control over it, it is not traumatic.

I think if we could CTB like this and be surrounded by family, there would be way less stigma regarding suicide. I read once that a social worker suggested a "harm reduction" approach should be taken to suicide, and I think that is how it should be handled. Harm reduction is an evidence-based approach for substance use disorders, and I think it would work well in the rest of the mental health environment as well. Definitely better than the current system we have where people are forcefully admitted to hospitals or placed in custody because they have suicidal ideation.

in relation to the less stigma thing, I sometimes wonder why suicide is so demonized. I often compare it to that of an ill dog being put down. If something is in such pain, why not allow it to be put to rest?

I wouldn't go for "normal/not normal" differentiation. If you feel like you need it then you need it. Period. No judgement allowed.
I'd love to be held during my final moments by someone i trust. Unfortunately no such person is available atm.
