Yeah, I live in a northern climate, so it's dark most of the day during this time of the year. Strangely enough, the winter sadness isn't too intense up to Christmas, however it gets rather rough in January and onward to spring. This year I've been rather worried how this winter will turn out, and I'm afraid it's going to get even rougher than last time. But yeah, I think this is somewhat common. Planning to chuck in some vitamin-d supplements and hoping for the best.

No, because at least I can sleep. Summer induces insomnia because I live so high up north that there is only 2-3 hours of full darkness in summer.

For me it's different. Winter, darkness and cold have always been my companions. Winter makes me feel protected and wrapped in the dark hands of the night when bats fly haphazardly around the streetlights.

Not really, the sol reason why i'm not feeling worst during winter, is because it's one of my favorite season. It's barely cold where i live, and seeing a little bit of snow and feeling the fresh breeze of winter on my face, is just making me a little bit less unhappy.

Very much the opposite. I have severe asthma/allergies and have always been a night owl. I get the most relief from alot of my symptoms during fall/winter and have always found night time very soothing. Though for the past several years I've been chronically sick more and more during the cold months so .

Yes, I wake up at 2pm and get 3 hours of sunlight and it's making me more depressed. I have extremely bright lights in my room, but I don't think it's helping much. I also am dreading the holidays coming up.

I'm just throwing my two cents in, feel free to totally ignore.

I am not surprised that there are lots of us that feel this way. But I am surprised that no one in this thread has mentioned seasonal affective disorder (sad). Very common at this time of year going through winter.
There are special lights you can buy to mimic sunlight. I don't really know much about it, but you can Google it.

And if you are willing to go with medication, Wellbutrin actually is listed as being prescribed to help with that . My depression has gotten a little worse lately and because of it and to ward off SAD making it worse, my doctor just put me on that two weeks ago.

Yeah I just want to sleep all day in winter and I have the worst blood circulation too so my fingers and toes go white because it's so sensitive to the cold .
