I'm a bit of a politics nerd, so I tend to think a lot about this. Not like I know any more than anyone else, but while I think things look really bad, I don't think they're truly hopeless. At least not yet.
It's pretty clear that the GOP's ability to whip congress in line with the agenda is Trump's biggest strength politically. My guess is they're being actively threatened. If they just did their job we wouldn't be here to begin with. Instead, he's currently ramming up against the judiciary and for the most part it appears that they have a had enough with his bullshit and are throwing up barricades. Compound this with his rapidly dwindling popularity and the endless parade of crises he is kicking off, and I could see members of his coalition begin to defect if they feel like his incompetence will backfire on them personally. CEOs are already sweating bullets because of the tarriffs. They can't really oust Trump now because his cult is his power, and they are absolutely rabid and will turn on a dime if they smell betrayal. But if he becomes so unhinged that they can't stop him from blowing up everything you may see folks looking to pull the fire alarm, critically, members of Congress who see their heads on pikes if things get out of control. Right now they're just playing the blame game like they always do (Biden, the "Radical Left", Latinos, Trans people, ect.)
The one thing the GOP does well is build and hold together coalitions. If the current protest movements want to find success need to do the same, and get their fucking act together. Laser focus on Trump and reclaim American patriotism. I'm sorry, but no one gives a shit about BIPOC Palestine LGBTQIA+ type special interests wedge issues right now. It just drives people away. Trump and his cabinet is the focusing prism that all of their rhetoric and attention needs to be channeled through. Everything else is a waste of time.
Ultimately though, all of this is our of our control. So we will just have to see how this plays out.
