I feel like this question must have been asked before, so I apologize, but I couldn't figure out how to search for it.

Looking to ctb using a nitrogen tank attached to a breathing mask. Hoping people don't know it's a suicide. I think I might be able to set things up in such a way to convince those who find my body afterwards that it's not a nitrogen tank, but an oxygen tank. Don't ask how, it's a kind of complicated thing that I've been prepping for months now.

However, is this even possible? I don't have anyone who can remove the tank afterwards. When they investigate my death, will it be easy to figure out it was a nitrogen rather than an oxygen tank? Like, is there something about the tank itself they'll be able to tell, even if it's empty of all gas? Assuming that I can easily remove any labels or stickers, of course.

How far would an investigation go? Would they be able to look at my purchase history and see that I bought a nitrogen tank and put it all together?

If they find the tank, they'll likely figure out out no matter what you do. Best thing is to find someone that would be willing to take the mask and tank away after you ctb. Do keep in mind also that a mask might leave marks on your face.

Is there any way you can think of to conceal this from them, without needing someone else to remove the tank and mask? That's just not something that I'm gonna be able to make happen

I am just learning about this too, but one possible problem is that oxygen tanks seem to use different fittings (in the US, it is a CGA-540) versus nitrogen and other inert gas tanks (CGA-580). They are slightly different in size.

Does anyone know if these can be replaced at all? I'm going to assume probably not

Or if it would be possible to get a nitrogen tank with a CGA 540 fitting

No its not possible. The government (OSHA) instructed manufacturers to intentionally make the fittings different. The tanks are often color coded as well so that there are no mix-ups. A fitting can be brought to translate 540 to 580 for relatively cheap. I used to own 1.

If you are eligible for Exit membership there are some euthanasia related organizations connected to them that can remove the items. In order to qualify however you have to be terminal, of a specific age, or something else in that realm.

Okay, here's a thought:

Would it be possible to take an oxygen tank, empty it out, and then fill it with nitrogen instead? How would one go about doing that?

You can replace it but your gas provider will not fill your oxygen tank with nitrogen.

Both tanks are essentially the same except for the valve connectors.

I'm not sure why you are going through all this headache. Just buy the 540/580 adaptor for <$20.

I'm not sure what an adaptor would do for me. I want to have it be an oxygen tank filled with nitrogen so that afterwards when it's been emptied out people won't think it's a suicide.

Does anyone know how to go about emptying an oxygen tank and filling it with nitrogen instead? Is it possible and safe to do this?

As mentioned, no legitimate source would refill an oxygen tank with nitrogen. Sorry.

Would it be possible to do so myself? Or is it something only professionals would really be qualified to do/that requires specialized equipment?

As a result of the autopsy, your cause of death will be acute hypoxia. Also, the tank will not be completely empty. Even if it completely loses pressure, nitrogen will remain in the tank. They will understand that it is a ctb.

OK...my bad. I didn't fully process what you were getting at.

@Greenberg is 100% correct. The industry is dominated but a few large players so it is nearly impossible to do. In the past 2 years a warning was sent to the larger suppliers to restrict the sale of tanks to business accounts only. People have since had problems ordering, although not impossible.

An local player is even more inclined not to do it as he'd could get in trouble and lose his business / livelihood. Its not like you're in an unregulated country like Mexico.

@DeadHorse is absolutely correct. And since you have not been prescribed oxygen by your doctor there would be even more reason to perform an autopsy on your body if a tank is spotted near you. As @Apricity mentioned the depressions in your face from the mask would be another reason to prompt an autopsy.

I doubt you'd want to ask someone as your plan maybe exposed. People get very antsy when they hear these types of requests. They may worry abut being jailed. I don't see you getting around any of this at all.
