Why is backrooms so popular? Why backrooms is successful, and even it becomes a hype & trend culturally today/nowadays? (especially among the younger generation Gen Z & Gen Alpha)
I think because it's also an isekai too, meaning that you got transported into another world, reality, or dimension, from this real world / real life / reality.
People just want to escape this mundane reality everyday, into something much more interesting, exciting, wonderful, & even full of 'unlimited' possibilities! That's why Backrooms also has so many levels, even almost infinite & unlimited areas & places to explore!
Yeah sure, some people might disagree & say that even backrooms is boring too, because it all basically just look the same thing. But, my 'deeper' point is that: at least it provides an escape (escapism) to breakaway from our everyday's mundane, samey, boring, repetitive reality, and routines, chores, school, work, errands. At least it gives a sense of 'meaning' & 'purpose', for people to follow & engage. And at least it gives people some 'childlike' wonders & excitement back again, rather than this dull real life / real world / reality!

Because admittedly, even as I'm still new to all these 'backrooms' stuff, after watching the movie few days ago, even as a millennial myself I do admit that it's very interesting, and can even actually be explored & discussed much more deeper/deeply!)
