Discussion Why don't people use a shotgun in the correct way more often?

I've researched so many articles about shotgun suicides failing. They all have one thing in common. They placed it under their chin. Not in their mouth. I've never read of anyone failing when they put it in their mouth.

Movies and games probably. it's not just shotguns, but most firearms in general. if you put it under your chin it increases the failure rate astronomically

I've also read that handguns aren't as reliable even in the mouth as a shotgun. Is this true? I have access to handguns but not shotgun

I have seen some movies where they got it right.
Full Metal Jacket is one that comes to mind.
Also a movie in the 1960s where a cop commits suicide at the end of the movie by putting his revolver in his mouth.

You must destroy the parts of the brain which control involuntary functions, like breathing and heartbeat.
The easiest way to do that is to severe the nervous system from the brain, ie: destroy the brainstem, which is located at the base of the brain.

Shooting yourself at the temple will ensure death but it will be a minute or two since there's a chance you'll drown in your own blood.
