So we don't ctb to keep us trapped in this prison. There is no afterlife there is no soul. The personality and consciousness are all generated by the brain. If a small coin sized part of the brain is damaged through accident or stroke the personality changes. So which personality gets immortalized the before the stroke one or the post stroke one, the 10 year old "me" or the 20 year old me or the 30 year old me, or the 90 year old demented me? There is no reincarnation .whats the point?
Correct. People are a resource, a mere possession of a religious institution/state.To ensure that your resource (person) is profitable (That generates a profit / that is a tool / utility) for as long as it exists, people are a RESOURCE.
The way I see it if there were no God there would be nothing that exists, and the fact that consciousness exists especially seems unlikely without some form of a God. I know people say consciousness is only from the body, well we can make an AI that behaves like a human but we don't think that's conscious so there's something more to it. I spent a lot of time reading the bible and got to the point where I objectively know it's not true because of contradictions I found, I don't think God is from any religion we know about and I don't think you have to believe in an afterlife even if you believe in a God, just my thoughts.I really wish it were forbidden to frighten people with that stuff on this forum, but that would be a form of fascism, so I guess we'll just have to continue to pretend that we respect each other's opinions on religion & "spirituality"![]()
Guess I'll just have to be civil & pretend I respect your conclusions... You're certainly entitled to themThe way I see it
You're not pretending but I don't care.Guess I'll just have to be civil & pretend I respect your conclusions... You're certainly entitled to them
I care even less about you not caring. I'm only interested in answering the question in the titleYou're not pretending but I don't care.
But I care even less about you're not caring about my not caring.I care even less about you not caring. I'm only interested in answering the question in the title
I'm not even someone who believes specifically in reincarnation but the theory of reincarnation doesn't necessarily require that your personality be reincarnated, just the consciousness. The new body would have a new personality or maybe the same brain structure so it would have the same personality for each various age if you wanted to be more religious about it,So we don't ctb to keep us trapped in this prison. There is no afterlife there is no soul. The personality and consciousness are all generated by the brain. You also believe in God, which makes you morally superior to scum like me, so you win that game too!But I care even less about you're not caring about my not caring.
I don't believe in any particular religion. I just believe in the general idea of a God. It's only particular religions like Christianity that say someone who believes in it is better than those who don't. However I do believe I'm less of an asshole than you, yes.You also believe in God, which makes you morally superior to scum like me, so you win that game too!![]()
Never , ever trust a Catholic.Hell is man made. It's a scare tactic; a mythical place invented by the Roman Catholic Church to instill fear and conformity. With the promise of protection from hell by being a good Catholic this produced many followers. With the followers came money and power. They also created "purgatory." Another place of waiting and punishment. I'm confident in saying you can cleanse your thoughts of it. The same Catholic Priests that ordered the slaughter of innocent people during the days of Knights Templar and molest little alter boys are the same ones that invented "hell."
That just makes you even more morally superior to me. You win, you win, you win!I don't believe in any particular religion. I just believe in the general idea of a God. It's only particular religions like Christianity that say someone who believes in it is better than those who don't.

What makes you say this? Source?Actually the brain generating consciousness is a theory that is on empirically pretty shaky ground these days. It's more plausible to believe that it filters consciousness.
