Why do jumpers in videos tend to jump forward?

Turn around midfall? How much time do you think you have while you're falling down? Mere seconds, not to mention the fact that you'd be too terrified to even think of that.
I feel like something about falling backwards is even more scary. When you fall forwards I think you feel more in control, you see where you're going to go and what's going to happen. And I feel like you overestimate your ability to move around in the air. You're a sack of meat and bones, not a bird.

It must be that you will fall from a very tall height if it takes that much time.
A plane usually flies thousands of feet above the ground, It's incomparable to jumping from a building.
But when people jump out of planes it's controlled. They know what they are doing, they know how to move, and importantly they have time to make movements. I don't think it's feasible to jump and do a full 180 half way while accelerating and having your body and mind screaming
