Because people here haven't already had their self-esteem systemically and utterly crushed. Trapped in our pit of pain, we still require someone to knock us down in the dirt by insinuating we are less worthy than another total stranger we have never met and never will - a message suicidal individuals are indoctrinated with on a regular basis as it is, since we are too often regarded as subhuman in society.
This is a place - the one place - where we should have some respite from that.

Loving someone can make you feel like they are the best person in the world but no one person is perfect and to make others feel less worthy than someone else isn't fair especially on a place like here where people don't even feel worthy of life. That's the problem with a lot of romantic/sexual relationships or fawning, the person somehow believes that because they subjectively found this person so attractive as to pay a nefarious amount of attention to them (while leaving everyone else in their life to the wind) that this somehow means that their beloved is more valuable than the rest of the humans on the planet. It's a big mistake.
And when that relationship comes to an end or the object of affection rejects them, they will take it out on everyone else, burn all their bridges and whine to the ether about how wonderful and ethereal their lover or 'adored' was, doubling down and reinstating their faulty beliefs and intrepid delusions-because that's literally all they have left.
They lost their sense of individuality and ability to survive without codependence. They melted themselves and their dearest into one person, one giant cesspool of obsession, and now they can't separate from it, even when it's over.
I have relatives who I have no doubt would act the same way, as they already have the first half of the problem down pat.
Just another piece of bullshit from this ass backwards world.
