Your entire mind is only fragments of other people. There's nothing as original individual. All we do as human species is copy each other, pass behaviour and opinions. Who you are today wasn't made by you. Even your persona got created merely by observing the people who brought you up and peers who happened to be around.

You don't choose your life. Learning from surroundings we got randomly born into, operating on genes we didn't even pick. You might think you control your life, but choice is just an illusion. In reality, nothing is really in your hands. All while things in life just keep on happening randomly.

True, I think it's important to be sympathetic with ourselves. I used to feel so ashamed of things like limerence- which I feel I'm prone to. I sort of still am but then, I think these things develop out of a consequence of other things not in our control- eg. problems in childhood. So yeah, I think it's important to try to be kind to ourselves.

There again, if we become aware that our own behaviour is bad, we do then have a choice on whether to try to change it.

I'll add , imo Culture / society / media/ other humans download culture/ beliefs into a Human from ages 0 to 7 years . Then 0 to 13. 0 to Death .

Thank you for sharing this. For me, a lot of my issues revolve around self hatred and low self esteem. I constantly blame myself for the idiot that I am but a lot more goes into it. There is a lot that I've messed up, sure, but a lot more that has been out of my control.

If you view it from the broadest perspective, then you don't have anything under control. Sure, i can control what i do now, but i can't control that i'm in this situation. I can't foresee what my actions will cause, and how my circumstances will influence me. Knowledge is power and control, and i don't know, so i have no control.

It's like playing chess, you can plan a few moves ahead, but can't figure out if those moves will be beneficial or not after 20 moves.

Yes, and no. You are not fully in control of your life. But you do have some influence over it: by the decisions you make, by the goals (if any) you set for yourself, by the way you choose to learn from your mistakes or not learn from them, etc.

The problem with what you're saying isn't that you're wrong, but that there are going to be people who fall back on it as an excuse for bad behaviour.
