It's an essay by empiricist philosopher David Hume expressing his "pro-choice" stance, very progressive for his time.
(The file includes some of Hume's other essays, the one on suicide is only the first 15 pages or so. It's quite good!

I love how Hume explains how Suicide isn't a transgression of our duty to God
