I would prefer to do it in my room.
With all due respect to anyone who's planning this, the reality is if you hang yourself at home, you are usually fucking things up for other people. I guess that's unavoidable with suicide.
But, ever read stories of those who have been in a house where a dead body has been? The smell doesn't disappear for years.
Our house has had a bad smell for months now ever since the weather warmed up. We finally realized the last owners husband passed away inside it. The law said they didn't have to tell us. Didn't notice anything in the winter when we moved in. The smell is just finally becoming ok and unnoticeable after burning incense three times a day for three months (rotating rooms). The person died over a year ago. They did all the proper ozone treatments and recovery renovations but you can still smell it to this day. It permeates the entire house and you can smell it as soon as you approach the house before you even enter. Again this is a year later.
Even if you live alone, you are messing things up for your neighbors, especially if they have kids. It fucks anyone up to realize what they are smelling is a person who is no longer there.
Unless you live in a house, in the middle of nowhere, and you have no friends or family to check on you. Then it only effects you.
But even in a normal neighborhood where the house next door is within 30 or even 50 feet, they are going to smell it, from inside their house believe it or not. It's that strong.
Outdoors is much better, unless you really can't make it there.
Not trying to judge or come off as arrogant, but the reality is most people don't realize how unbelievably, undeniably powerful a dead body smell is and how long it lasts even after they remove it and do renovations. It's not like in the movies and TV shows.
And yeah...it basically ruins a house. At least for a few years. Some people don't notice the smell, but a lot of people do. I guess someone will eventually buy the house or rent the apartment if you die in it, it happens, but it's really best to avoid it.
Spent the last five months wondering what room he died in, waking up and smelling that smell, coming home and smelling that smell, only to know what it is...it's way too personal for my nose and my mind. And damn, I'm just trying to eat at home or watch TV or sleep.
If I had to wake up every day and smell my dead loved one in my house, I'd be the next one in line for suicide. Hopefully you don't live with anyone you love if you choose this method indoors. They will not have a permanent hotel, new apartment, or new house the next day. They will at least have to sleep a few nights there, if not a few months, or years, or maybe they can't afford to leave.
Don't make them smell you, if you can avoid it. It's cruel and fucked up. Seriously. The suicide is one thing and all that comes with that, but don't make them smell you too, for the next year or more. No amount of opening the windows or any air purifier will work. It takes years. I've heard when it's fresh, for a few weeks or months you can taste it in your mouth and in your nose and it won't get out. How are they supposed to eat at home? Where are they supposed to go? Don't kick your family out of their house. Just my opinion. I know not everyone can go somewhere else besides the home. Not trying to shame anyone or make them feel worse. Just trying to be real.
Just something to think about.
