for apps, the best i have is spotify which is a piss poor answer but all i got, music, depending on the type i choose makes me feel a little better or wayyyy worse, but i listen while i play word games which seems really grannyish but true and that normally distracts me for a bit.

This might sound silly or embarrassing but I played through the entire Hidden Cats series this weekend in order to stall until my next psych appointment. Hidden object games really require focus so they occupy enough of my brain to stop the ruminating for a little bit.
But really just anything with an addictive enough gameplay loop works. Depends on your tastes and capabilities. When I wasn't as deep in burnout as I am now I liked farming games a lot. The theming is like a fantasy away from my real life and the gameplay loop is rewarding to me. But at this point they are too complex to focus on.

I play so many hidden object games, my Steam account is full of them.

This is a free one with hundreds of levels that I've been grinding through. Put some music on, mindlessly click, relax.

Pro-tip for the above one: Play a few levels and developer mode unlocks, dev mode allows you to give yourself unlimited hints.

Bloons TD 6 has always been my comfort game, going all the way back to when I was a high school freshman. Funny because I've never been particularly good at it, but I find it fun. Putting on music I like always helps as well, music is such a big part of my life.

Forge of Empires used to work for me because my guild leaders were supportive and looked out for me, and it gave me the option to help people with their city or fight battles against rival guilds. I'd play for many hours in the day and night and was a complete escape into another world. But lately it doesn't work and I've got rid of all my cities but one and left the guild so there's no pressure. Can't find the energy for any other big games. I use the stupid little phone games like word search, colouring, etc to distract myself sometimes
