most of us have social media/online accounts that we signed up for during our life. emails, videogame accounts, professional accounts. will you be wiping everything clean before you go, or do you want your online self to stay immortalized forever? (until the servers shut down, obviously lol)

I will be keeping my accounts up as I can't be bothered to delete them and would still like to be able to provide to others after I am dead and if they are interested in me, they can look through my info.

Given that most sites remove inactive accounts after specific period of time, that immortality would last 2-3, maybe 5 years.
As for the question, i'll answer with abbreviations - tbh idgaf. I don't feel overly attached to my online presence and don't care much what happens to it after i die.

I'll likely be keeping my accounts too :) I'm planning on sending out a scheduled email to some friends for my suicide note

I've always kept my social media use minimal and/or anonymous since around 2012 and have deleted pretty much most of my accounts by now. I don't care what happens with my accounts like on this website.

i'm a naturally private person, so i don't have much of a social presence to clean up. i would be absolutely amazed if anyone could guess my laptop password, much less my other passwords beyond that. thus, i think leaving things as they are will be alright. anything with identifying or personal information is extremely difficult to reach without being me lol

I haven't had Facebook in over a year, and I'm not a member of any other social media site. SaSu is the only social media I interact on.

When I know my time is near, I will delete my account here, and burn my phone until it's nothing but ashes. I plan to leave nothing for anyone to find, and let them wonder what happened. I also want to protect SaSu, which is why I'm destroying my phone.

i'll leave them up, a few friends of mine have passed (either through suicide or otherwise) and it's nice to be able to go back through old posts and messages to reminisce and remember them.

it makes it easier when i miss them, so i'll do the same for those that may miss me. also, less effort lol

that's actually an interesting thing to think about

if you manage to CTB under what most would call mysterious circumstances, law enforcement and your family members will look to your online presence to try and make sense of things,

and i need you to fully hear me out on this, there are significant chances that in their interpretation of your presence you will be misrepresented **massively**, if that's something that matters to you, then you have 2 options:

1-write a specific goodbye message and make sure your semantics are fucking immaculate,
2-delete all your accounts before you go through with it

for me, i can't be bothered to do either so i'll just leave it at that

I just deleted certain, uhm, "unsavory" parts of it and that's it, I'll leave my passwords to my mother and a very closed group of friends so they can browse anything they want and find answers for whatever was left unanswered.

I haven't decided yet whether I leave it up or delete it completely, there can be two possible outcome for me. Either everyone will make fun of me or just pretend that i never existed so i don't know whether i will leave it up or not.

I'm wondering about this, too. Does it really matter? What would be the harm in leaving everything? I mean, there might be a few people who might want to go back and "remember" me, but in all reality how much of a factor is that overall? Obviously I won't care when I'm gone, but will it harm anyone else? I can't think of any reason it would be a problem, but the more I research the ctb process overall, and the more I learn about the internet environment (as an old person and someone who doesn't even make digital friends easily) the more I realize I don't know.

I have little to none social media, and I don't have anything on them, so I'm just letting it all be. You know, waste of time. When it comes to being immortalized, I see the appeal, but I'd rather be forgotten about. Depends on the environment and people I suppose, I don't know. I might give my Steam account to someone close, and try to distribute financial assets maybe.

I don't think I'll delete anything. My online accounts are generally for my hobbies... nothing about my personal life. I only have family members on one social network, but it's always on private mode.

Not deleting anything. I funny feel the need to explain my motives to family, but if somebody gets comfort from seeing my pictures then I'm okay with that.

I have a Destiny 2 account that's very dear to me. In some ways, it's a part of who I am. My Guardians are an extension of me. I would like my Guardians to live on with my in game accomplishments. I even jokingly asked one of my close friends if he'll play my account if I quit the game for some reason. Told him not to tank my KD too much lol. But maybe people will see me on their friend list and remember some fun interactions we had together in the Vault of Glass. I couldn't leave behind anything of use for this world, after all.

Other accounts, I really don't care. I haven't posted in social media accounts for ages. I don't think anyone will notice unless they personally hear about my departure somehow. Even then, I don't think anyone will care much outside of a momentary "oh that's sad", if they even care to do that at all.

I'll be keeping up my online presence.
It was all made to be seen anyway.
Though it's likely no one will see it, when I'm dead. But since I'll be dead, that's perfectly fine.

I'm not really sure. Some of my family already know I'm here so it feels like it doesn't matter anyway. I'm having double thoughts about it. In one way I want to get rid of my SaSu account right now, but I still find the account helpful for me. And it can work as my diary for my family of my last months in life.
Then I wonder if all my family really want to read this shit after I'm gone.

Then it's really hard to know when it's the day for CTB. I hopefully get desperate enough and just to do it without planing any certain date. Then I actually want my family to remove my SaSu account after eventually saving some notes from my writings.

I deleted most of my social media years ago (life got so much better afterwards). I really do not care what happens to my digital presence after I die. I am going to leave all of my stuff up and open but only because I am too lazy to go around and delete my remaining accounts.

Why do you think your life got better afterwards deleting some of your social media?
