Hai, I've been told that SN apparently goes bad and turns to nitrate after being exposed to air. I got my SN 2 months ago, when I got it I opened it just to smell it, I had it open maybe 1-2 mins max, afterwards I closed it as it was and kept it in my bag until now, when I opened it again to mix it with water. When I first opened it months ago I think (?) it was yellow and smelled lemoney, now it's white and doesn't smell of anything really, but I'm really not sure how it was before I don't really remember. How do I know if it's bad, any way to test it or tell, I mixed it and idk how it's supposed to look

AFAIK, SN has no smell. So if it did smell when you originally opened it, that is cause for concern already.

Might be worth using the aquarium test strip method. I'm sure there's a thread for it somewhere.

There is a LOT of white specks floating around in the mixed SN... is that cause for concern?? I thought it was some of the sn that didnt dissolve but is that even possible, it took a while to dissolve too when i mixed it, i had to shake the bottle around

Actually, SN is very stable, but the fact that the color has changed from yellow to white is a bad sign.

How did you store it? In a screw-top jar?

The problem isn't the air, but the humidity; the SN then oxidizes into nitrate.

What are the flow properties of your SN like now? Does it clump, do individual granules stick together, or do the individual granules flow freely without clumping?

Can you upload a photo? (preferably before and after)

after being exposed to air
Brief contact with air won't harm SN, but it's very hygroscopic and manages to absorb moisture even inside a closed container, and this moisture is exactly what accelerates its oxidation. But... how quickly does it oxidize then? 10% over six months to a year? There's no precise answer. It's best to prevent it from drawing in moisture - either seal it tightly or, I don't know, throw in a silica gel packet

there is no before and after but this is now, first pic is inside the bottle and second is some i poured out, it very much does not flow, its a bit difficult to get out actually, and yes it clumps quite a bit, i think it sticks a bit yeah
it came in a screw top jar and i kept it in there

any way to test it
It's best to test it using aquarium test strips, but with the following adjustment
---
If you're going to test it the way Vizzy did, dissolve 3.75 grams in the first cup instead of 2.5 grams, and then transfer 1 ml of the liquid from the first cup to the second (I recommend using a 100-unit insulin syringe)
---
Just in case, I also recommend testing a 5 ppm solution so you can compare the colors later and make sure you didn't overdo it with the nitrite. You can either prepare an extra cup and transfer 0.5 ml (50 units) into it from the first one, or you can first transfer 0.5 ml into the second cup, dip a test strip, then add another 0.5 ml and dip a new test strip
