Discussion What's up with the 'I never asked to be born' its seems like a dramatic but ultimately stupid argument, care to explain?

I don't like this argument because, besides its obvious weaknesses, it's one I can't actually prove. I spoke about existential stuff with some theological people, and they pointed out that for all I know maybe I actually did choose to be born and maybe even in these exact circumstances. I have no way to know. my sister, who is also sometimes struggles with suicidal and depressive episodes, believes that about herself, for example.

I'm just saying there might be things beyond our limited, human perspective. Our soul/ energy/ consciousness might exist before we are born. We just don't remember. It is possible that we choose our circumstances. You choose the difficulty level in a game, right? It is possible that from that non physical stand point, this 70-80 years life time seems what seems for us playing a game for a few hours. Or reading a book. Or watching a series. You select the theme, the genre, watch it, shut it down and return to being you. Or it is like waking up from a dream. (bad dream, for us here)

I'm not saying it is so. But it is possible. And if we don't know for sure, why blame the parents? They can't unbirth us anyway...

We do know for sure, or at least I do. Maybe you don't know who to blame, but I sure as hell do.

They can't unbirth us - just like a murderer can't unkill his victim - but that's no reason not to assign blame.

lol I agree. who knows what kind of being I am outside of life? maybe they see me as I see characters who I write to suffer terrible pain in my stories.
