There's an old retired philosophy professor whos also a licenced therapist practicing close to me; I'm debating whether or not I should try to get an appointment.
Why am I telling you this? maybe this happy clappy dumbed down abc 123 singing mnemonic coping skill acronym songs and writing down positive quotes in our paint by numbers mandala diary works for some people. I mean there have always been those people as far back as I remember, back in school and later at work.
Some people are more intellectual or intelligent or even just skeptical, pessimistic, critical. Maybe you need some kind of analyst? That's why I was intrigued when I saw a retired philosophy professor as a practicing counselor.
I think psychiatrists don't earn as much as "real" doctors, at least in Europe; so out of financial interest it's probably better to become a cardiologist or a dentist or something.
I kind of went off in my comment, but I seriously get so frustrated when I think of "modern mental health care."
