Quietly hearing a far-off mourning dove in the early to mid morning.
The scent of the earth when I'm high up on a mountain.
Working 8 hours on one dish, spending the whole day cooking, and it comes out better than expected.
~~~~~~~
Just to name a few. I can't always see these when I'm in pain, and it's not like chirping birds are the real antidepressant. But they're little things that I'll miss if there's some kind of life after death (I don't believe there is one, but none of us know for certain). Small things that, in moments of clarity, I'm able to appreciate, even if just for five seconds. Some brief respite from the pain, the dullness, the agony, the suffering, however it may manifest in a given moment. Is it a reason to keep living? I honestly don't know. But it gives me a break from life for even just a quick moment. They say "it's the little things in life" which is obviously trite and cliché crap, but there can certainly be some level of truth to it after all.
So tell me, SaSu, what are some small things that make you happy? What are some small things that just make you feel good?
