Um, yeah, vodka is WAY stronger...Don't go too mad on it or you'll be out like a light before the deed.

Vodka, gin, whiskey -
Thanks for the good wishes man, made me feel good. I have actually never tried vodka before, although it's easily available and costs around $2 for a 250ml bottle. I've had beer before, but vodka is probably way stronger.
I will drink the night before CTB to see if I can aim right.

How should I prop the butt of the gun? I am thinking of lying on the ground and pulling the trigger with my foot, so that the shotgun pellets stay in my skull as my head will be pressed against the ground.

Stick to the drink you know. I talk from very recent experience.
Things are SO different after strong alcohol. And it works very fast if you don't drink regularly.
I was completely drunk in less than 15 min and I had just a small glass of G&T [70ml of gin + tonic]

I couldn't say it better. Exactly how I feel right now.

For that reason I stopped listening to the bands and music I loved when I was 'alive'.
I dont go to places to see them for 'the last time'. They are not mine anymore.
I stop riding my magnificent titanium bike next day I joined this forum, because I lost that feeling of oneness with it...

That titanium bike. I hate to see a fellow member suffer, so I'll collect next Monday. No need to giftwrap...

Exactly. I make it a point of sticking to the tipple I usually get drunk on. :-)

Apart from the obvious family and friends, which obviously can't be topped, I guess metal concerts would definitely be up there. The raw energy and absolute catharsis I get from them are some of the best things I've ever had in my life bar none.
I should be able to catch a couple more before I go, but man will I miss waking up covered in bruises with a sore throat and a neck stiffer than a ceiling beam.

To me, that sounds a little risky, because the butt of the gun would be nearly straight up in the air. I am not an expert on guns. I have shot 12ga shotguns and pistols with magnum rounds, and know the recoil is significant. Rather than me give you bad advice, I will suggest you read the threads dedicated to firearms.

We here at SS don't want anybody to fuck themselves up, and live. So that is my advice. Take care, Bro.

A chance to be actually happy. I'm slipping so bad right now and no ome is trying to save me. I'm so tired of the stigma against suicide. People shut you up or don't wanba hear it because it makes their skin crawl. If I survive, I might be a counselor or something so I can listen to people

I will read the whole firearms megathread to learn about this recoil thing, and maybe ask questions. Hopefully some expert will tell me the right position to hold the shotgun.
I appreciate the good wishes.

Quite surreally funny. Where else could you wish someone all the best and mean I hope you die soon, and the recipient would thank you for your kind and supportive wishes...?

What my statement meant was we don't like FAILED attempts,
where people suffer for the remaining part of their lives.

We don't wish on anyone here to die.
Quite the opposite, we are always happy if they decide to give life more time, we cheer them on.
We don't take sides.

But we also respect a person's right to take their own life, if they feel that is what they need to do.
We want to help them do it the best way possible, so there will be no suffering.
Actually, I think that is more compassion than you will get outside of SS.
So I don't find it surreal at all.

Surreal sometimes, I agree.
But this is the only place in the whole English speaking internet, where people openly discuss [and often exercise] their natural rights to do with their lives whatever they want.
In this context wishing someone 'good death' sounds about right to me.

I agree.

Maybe it's just me, but my way of dealing with my situation is to see the humourous side of it. In some ways, it's like a mad Monty Python sketch making satire out of something quite sad in reality. Really, I can easily imagine a Python sketch were a group of aspiring ctb-ers are in a pub talking about exit bags, nitrogen, N, sitting or lying, and so on.

MP type voice: "Ooooo, Doris, Sainsbury are doing lovely strong bags on discount just now. £2.50 for 10". "Eeeee, bah gum, I think Tesco are a bit cheaper, love." "Do yer know if they sell strong rope?"

Well, it makes me laugh, and as much as I'd prefer not to have to go, I would prefer to go like that. A kind of resigned chuckle at the madness of it all.

Ballet. I keep having a fantasy that I perform the dying swan as my "finale" before I die. It's a paradox though, because if anyone was interested to see me, then I would have a reason to live.

Exactly. I won't really be missing out on anything because I already have been since my life went awry. I have lost connection with the many things I used to enjoy so much. Skiing, fishing, nature, good friends- i feel completely disconnected from all those things. Fascinating to see other people have stopped listening to music and stopped even using the excellent gear they once enjoyed.

I think it's more common trait on this forum.
If someone really think about leaving this life, first thing is to detach from people, habits, hobbies, places, things etc. If you cant do it - you are not ready yet.

I'm sure you have it covered, but I trust your pets will be taken care of?

I like 'disconnected'. I did try to put the plug back in myself many times, but just couldn't reach.

I've always been a passionate reader, loved and lived on books. Can barely manage a page a day now. I have a theory...

Like almost everything we do, reading included, there is always a conscious or unconscious feeling that the enjoyment we are getting from this benefits our future in some way. Given our situations, however, I/we find ourselves increasingly in 'what's the point?' territory.

Sorry, I didn't understand. If you live alone and have no one to leave them with, what will happen to them?

I don't know, I've looked up no kill shelters but of course those are full. I sometimes think a sealed room and charcoal grill and they could just go with me.

Well, jolly for you, but you chose your way, they didn't. Very selfish. You need to re-think this!
