Yes, as a sailor I can assure you that if it is genuinely catering to people with boats, they will have good rope.But is it a good place to buy a rope? Will they have nylon ropes?
Buy something like a 10mm braided nylon: it will be strong enough to hold you and slippery enough that the noose you tie will slide properly.
Look at a rope's break strength: you want something that can carry at least your entire weight. It should be on the lable. Even if it isn't, if it's braided nylon, and you're buying it off a spool, anything 10mm should be plenty strong enough.
If you need an excuse for buying a short length of rope, just say that you've been looking at YouTube videos and want a length of line for tying some of the fancy knots you've seen videos of. However, if you use that excuse, be casual about asking about break strength, since if you're just tying fancy knots break strength is meaningless. Just go with a casual, "gosh, how strong is this stuff, anyway?"
