Personally as angry as I am getting I want to try to get my doctor to give me some Xanax, or Valium. I am getting scared of how angry I am getting.🤬 I swear just let someone start anything with me., I am ready to go into attack mode. Obviously, I cannot go to work each day angry, but I also can't go to work stoned on THC gummies.😜 Does anyone here know how hard it would be to get valium or Xanax prescribed in the USA? I am getting to the point that when I guy tailgated my going home from at work,(85 mph), I slammed on my brakes.😲 IF the SOB had hit my car you would be hearing about me on your local news. I cannot figure out specifically what is making me just so damn angry.
But I am so damn angry about every little thing. Has anyone else ever felt like this and what did you do?
Xanax wont help you, not in the long term, u will just get addicted to it. Gotta solve the underliyng problem if can be done or found... Is usually frustration in my experience. I would stay away from most drugs, THC included. I was a big pot smoker and I became calmer and more patient since I stopped. Big walks (dusk till down) help too for me, too much 4 walls makes me like that sometimes.

OP the insomnia can pass over time. I think the insomnia is not the same as anti-depressant induced mania. I had insomnia for a few weeks on fluoxetine then it passed. Whichever med you are on, if you are on Facebook there are support groups for each medication where you can get support, encouragement and info. I would let a med settle for 12 weeks if you can bear jt, then raise the dose. Good luck with the new one
with any dose/dose increase it needs 12 weeks. My medication took 6 weeks to help somewhat and 12 weeks to work more. They take time to work - doctors should encourage that but because we are suffering we want to rush it and/or stop and switch too quickly. I didn't have the strength to sit out my side effects on zoloft and was more lucky with the ones on fluoxetine- which I think did include increased suicidal thoughts - but mainly insomnia. Meds do suck but hopefully can help when they settle.

Hi! I know you posted this a while ago, OP, but I just wanted to pitch in here as someone who 1) has been on a buttload of different SSRIs and SNRIs over the years and 2) has a degree in psychology. As others have said, given your side effects and diagnoses, getting the referral from your GP to see a psychiatrist is something I would HIGHLY recommend. With SSRIs, it takes about two months (ish) for side effects to start to go away. Your GP and psychiatrist will ultimately want to find something for you that has more benefits than side effects (or at least side effects that are bearable).

Personally, I'm taking Effexor right now, both for depression and neuropathic pain caused by my fibromyalgia. I'm Autistic like you, and have CPTSD which has a lot of comorbid symptoms with BPD (something you might ask your psych about! Many people especially if you're AFAB are misdiagnosed with BPD when they really have CPTSD!) along with a slew of physical stuff. If you wanna know more in general about psych meds I'm more than happy to answer questions as I've really run the gauntlet. :)

Hi lovely! Thanks for your comment :) I really appreciate your input.
I think I mentioned before in a comment, but after mentioning that sertraline wasn't going well for me I was immediately taken off that and moved to citalopram instead. I noticed immediately once the sertraline was out of my system, because it was like night and day lmao. I've been on citalopram now since early Dec and i've still had my moments, but overall I'm really happy with it. Mood swings aren't as frequent, feel more level headed, and i've not noticed any side effects either. I'm still debating whether it's worth trying to see a psychiatrist, I did try a few weeks ago but it was a different GP and he pretty much laughed in my face. It's a lot of time, effort and energy to fight doctors, and the time it would take to get the referral even if they did agree to do it leaves me ultimately wondering if it's worth it when I'm doing alright with what I'm on. It's a tough one.
I have a review next week so I'll bring it up - I might dm you depending on what they suggest if that's okay? Thanks again for your comment :)

Sure that's okay! I was on Citalopram for YEARS and had a lot of success with it, the only reason I switched was because my body slowly build up a tolerance for it and it stopped working (my body is a little weird like that). As a chronically ill person both mentally and physically, I understand the ETERNAL struggle of fighting with doctors and specialists. I myself meet a new psychiatrist next week and am not looking forward to it too much haha. I'm around if you need answers!
