I am not sure I don't care much about. I don't spend much time thinking about it. When I am dead I am dead. The worst thing I can imagine a creep abusing my body and upload it on the internet. This is one reason why I dislike gore. Most people who are shown in these videos never have given consent. It takes them their dignity in my point of view.

My mom once told me she wants to be cremated. I think she is disgusted by the thought your body is rotting and eaten by worms etc. I can understand that. It must look pretty disgusting I assume. Moreover noone can abuse a cremated body. (Okay I am not fully sure about that...)

I am not sure about my body. It depends what the costs are. I don't want that my family has to pay much. If the state pays for it I don't care. I am not sure burning my body sounds kind of brutal. I think there are creepy stories that people were falsely claimed to be dead and then they were burned alive.

I made a very short research. And seemingly in some countries stories are reported. People were falsely claimed dead but then they revived. I think this mostly happens in third world countries with very bad doctors. In my country there are safety measures against that and it is extremely unlikely if not impossible. Or this happened centuries ago.

I am not scared about such a scenario. It is very very unlikely. And in the end what is worse being burried alive or being burned alive? Both seem to be horrific. I don't want to scare anyone. That something like that happens it very unlikely. It was just one association with this topic.

They will bury me If I die soon. But I don't know about 50 years later. I will likely have an interesting belief about that and demand a different funeral.

I deserve to be cremated and have my ashes spread in a trash can. I doubt my mother would allow that.

I'd honestly want to go out that way. If it's good for the dead antelope in the Serengeti, it's good for dead me. Returning to mother Nature is the way to go imo (could also be achieved with a Sky/Water burial but I digress).

But knowing my uber-religious parents I'm gonna be cremated 100%.

I'd wish for my organs to be donated to whoever might need them, but I'm pretty certain people who die from suicide cannot donate where I live. It really is a major shame. It's not like I'll have any use for it after I'm dead.

I share some of your fear regarding my body being abused, @noname223. Maybe it's not rational, since I won't be alive to experience any potential misuse of my corpse, but it's still something that bothers me. I think I'd like to be cremated since that makes it much harder to abuse it. If my organs can't be donated, I mean.

If it was up to me I would choose to be cremated, but after all it cannot really matter to me what happens to my body after I am gone as I simply wont be there at that point. I will finally be free from this horrible, pointless existence.

A 3rd option now is available to be put into a biodegradable pod which is buried and planted with a tree on top. It can be done with ashes from cremation or with the body in a fetal position. You provide nutrients for the clone tree. The tree then grows and you become it. Some cemetery/funeral homes aren't as big on this since it requires them to do more work by planting the tree. They will, and have to do it though. You just have to ask when talking about the options.

You are the tree and the tree is you.

When you are dead, your identity ceases to exist. Some people think about how they will be treated when they die. I believe that the body is not my body in the first place. My spirit, my persona just happen to be temporarily housed in this carbon functional body. When i die my identity ceases and the body returns to the soil, to nature, from whence life did form. Eventually, Earth will implode and this will be the continuing journey of my dust particles, aimlessly travelling throughout the cosmic stella constellations for eternity. Its a journey we must all take. Forget about creepy people, when your turn arrives, you wont exist to know that anyone is there.

In the immediate hours after I'm dead what was my body will be photographed by the police and medical examiner's office. The ME's transport team will come soon after, bag the body up, and transport it to the ME's morgue, where it will be kept in a large refrigerator at 36°F.

The following day the body will be brought out by a morgue tech to an autopsy station where clothing will be removed, the body weighed and measured, and sometime between 8am and 2pm will be examined. Whether a full autopsy, partial autopsy or an external examination will be performed is still unknown. The local ME's office allows the assigined pathologist performing the exam to determine what level of exam is necessary. Being that my exit method will leave an obvious cause of death I'm hoping it will just be an external seam, but obviously that decision is not mine.

24 hours after the autopsy, the body will be eligible for pickup by the funeral director, which has been prepaid. He'll deliver it to the crematory, where it will be processed and returned within 5 days.

Hopefully my best friend remembers to pick up the remains, and I'll be spread somewhere meaningful. Otherwise the remains will sit on a shelf at a funeral home for 6 months, then be dumped on the grounds of the funeral home.

I've told my sister what I want if she survives me. Cremation, cheapest container, burial in a plot my parents bought in the 60's. No preachers, no prayers, no "service". She has assured me she will honor my wishes. After all, she is my sole "heiress".

@noname223, The main issues which disturbe me is not so much how my body would be disposed of, but rather the different treatments we get depending on the nature of our death.

When death is due to CTB, which will follow by the examination and autopsy and the intrusive investigations into our whole life, without any regards to our wishes / post-mortem privacy, is what I can't fathom or accept.

My biggest fear is getting an autopsy. I dont want my naked body laying there on a steel bench with the lights on and some guy digging in my organs. Yikes. (What if…I can feel it) ><

i have very specific thoughts on this. while i know this will depend on the way i go, but the part i'm most passionate about is organ donation. donate everything possible. skin, eyes, everything. i have no use for it. then i want to be cremated and then planted as a tree. there's a more technical way of putting it but i want to become a tree. i guess i want to help people in ways that i couldn't while i was alive through the organ donation, and then as a tree maybe i'll finally find peace.

I resonate with your view, it should be the norm. From where I live, there're people donating land for green burial in order to fertilise the land in a positive way. Although it's only a very limited number of trial projects on-going, it is still a more common-sense approach than the dogmatic option.

I just don't want her wasting money on a fancy box and piece of land that nobody visits. If not adding to human made stuff in the ground so much the better. I can't see people paying $5000+ to dispose of a body. Take that money and donate it or have a big party.

I want to decompose in the woods, be eaten & stuff. Cycle of life (insert lion king song)

I'm disgusted at the idea of having my blood removed to be replaced by preservatives & my meat exposed with my orifices sown shut. All of them. Then to kill trees for the coffin, or polluting by burning me.

Here's a fun fact. Your meat is going to stay alive a long time, cells screaming. I want them to board other life forms & live on.

But not humans. My presence was unworthy because I wasn't able to get vaxed. So my organs are unworthy now. I'd rather feed the worms.

For all I care they could throw my carcass in the dumpster. I won't know the difference.
I am a registered organ donor and would like to donate if it's a possibility, but I think by the time I'm found my organs probably won't be harvestable anymore

Insects don:t care about ugly, just food. I:m pretty sure there are people who don't care as long as they get kindness & affection. I met an obese couple, they seemed happy.
