Usually when people suffer mental conditions, they are treated for it by going to the hospital or some kind of medical association themselves. But what are some conditions where patients are allowed to stay in a mental hospital?

Thanks for the discussion

You mean permanently? In the UK none. Unless classed as criminally insane.

How does one get permanent admitted to a mental hospital without ever seeing a judge or without doing anything warranting that kind of treatment?

In the UK you don't get to decide. You get discharged when the doctors think you're ready no matter what you think about it. And with pressure on beds and so on people are prone to getting discharged before they are ready. If you go private, you could probably stay as long as your money lasts.

Only if they think you're a serious risk to yourself or others. And you're about to cause serious harm to yourself or others imminently. And they don't keep you in long even then..

In UK, if you have bpd/eupd, you're less likely to be admitted to psych hospital. If you are admitted, it would usually be for up to 72 hours. They believe that patients with bpd are more likely to attempt suicide after discharge if they've had a long stay.
Oh and if you self harm, you're likely to be discharged... and if you DON'T self harm, you'll be discharged as well, because they say you're not self harming, so you must be feeling better Crazy eh!
