What professionals don't wanna hear about assisted suicide

Especially mentally ill people are very often denied for assisted suicide. There are some reasons. The doctors say depressions cause suicidal thoughts and all of these symptoms can be treated. They don't differentiate between longterm suicidal thoughts and shortterm suicidal thoughts. And not between simple symptoms or deeper lying problems.

Another reason is they say for some people there still can be this miracle. They explain that they know people with mental issues who recovered after decades of suicidal thoughts. I have some problems with this attitude. I don't insist on my right to die openly in front of professionals because I think the open denial would humiliate me further. It is my life, noone else should determine about my death.

If I don't want to wait for a miracle and play this lottery. It is my right.
If I want to risk that I will might miss out this miraculous recovery so be it.
God fucking damn it I have long term suicidal thoughts since 9 years I have well thought about the consequences of my actions. I have my limits and if they are reached I want to determine when it ends.

If people can decide if they procreate they should also have the right to end it you fools. Future will show I am right.

We all deserve a right to die, we did not ask to exist in the first place so we have no obligation to stay alive. Only we are experiencing our illnesses, so we should get to decide when to end it, not other people making the decisions. For some people it is unlikely to get better and they do not want to suffer for decades.

Unfortunately professionals, and people are indoctrinated and taught that suicide is ALWAYS tragic, all death is tragic and should ALWAYS be prevented.

Unfortunately, that isn't the case. I suppose in an ideal world it might be. Everyone here knows all too well though we don't, and people should have the option to end things in a peaceful and dignified manner.

I'm honestly not sure if we'll see much change anytime soon, I don't see the wind beginning to blow in the other direction yet (although I hope I'm wrong ofc) as we all deserve a peaceful and dignified way to end any potential suffers should we see fit.

The best possible scenario would have been to never be born at all. The second best scenario is to end this existence as soon as possible. Life equals dissatisfaction, suicide is simply the most thorough form of self-care. Everyone who wants to take away my right to decide for myself what's optimal and good, who tries to infringe on my right to bodily autonomy, I consider to be the enemy. How is anyone with a modicum of self-respect supposed to trust people who treat you like an infant the moment you admit to your suicidal thoughts, people who declare you insane because of knee-jerk reactions like "suicide bad" and "life's precious".

It boggles my mind how these countries allow assisted suicide only for select individuals. There are groups of people whose job it is to decide what constitutes a sufficient amount of suffering for someone to be considered suicide-worthy. What kind of sick personality is needed for someone to have the audacity to reign over the lives of total strangers, and to evaluate their life according to their own subjective view of what constitutes a life worth living.
They tell each other how right they are and how compassionate their cause is, but at the end of the day they are responsible for countless botched suicide attempts leading to disabilities and disfigurements, innumerable failed existences whose entire lives consist of one big yearning for release. Human rights abuses are tolerated as long as the majority is not affected or ideologically convinced that it is for a good cause.

I mean killing yourself is totally legal here in the UK. But the means by which this can be achieved are quite limited. They want it to be a fairly difficult/risky thing to do, in order to deter people, so that they continue to pay their taxes.

There's an average 18 suicides a day in the UK, so it's a major national issue. I think they believe that number would you only go up if assisted suicide was legal.

I think there's also the concern about doctors having to deal with PTSD from administering lethal drugs to patients when they probably want to save them.
