Right now I am on a heavy Pink Floyd kick. I've been listening to Dark Side of the Moon on repeat basically the last few months.
That album specifically feels like a modern day bible to me. It tackles so many aspects of the modern world, and explains them in such a sharp way, it is quite amazing they made that record when they were so young.
For me Time especially resonates with me, as I wasted about a decade of my life dropping out of school/getting into drugs/fucking around.
The part:
You are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today
And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun
Especially hits close to home for me.
The album Wish You Were Here (and especially Shine On You Crazy Diamond and the titular track) also hit close home to me, as I've lost quite a few childhood friends over the last few years. It really hurts to see people in their 30s dying because they made the stupid decision to get into drugs in their teens. I am "lucky" I got clean. I say lucky in an ironic way, as I rather would have had it be me to die, than them.
