"Wiped Out!"

I apologize if this question has already been asked here. I cannot seem to find the search feature. Anyhow, I'm trying to figure out what (widespread?) methods of self-harm exist that do not involve cutting. I am very scared of everything sharp and everything related to like, veins/arteries. My SI is at an all-time high and I cannot even imagine trying to cut myself because of that. However I want to try SH and I seek advice from you, because I am very NOT versed in it. Feel free to share your experience. Thank you.

Please don't. As someone who has a history of SH it really isn't worth it. A lot of people end up getting addicted to SH and any relief that it provides is very short-lived. It's not uncommon for people to end up having to employ more and more severe SH methods to even get the same sort of "relief" that they got back when they first started. It's a coping mechanism that can make things worse for you.

I appreciate your input, however, I am a total pussy. I don't think I can get addicted to SH because I am very scared of it. And yet, due to the fright, I have no idea what it feels like to inflict damage on oneself, and I want to know. I am rather certain that it will also help me gain more confidence in regards to actually ending my life, because - again - I am deathly scared, despite the fact that I have concrete intentions

It really won't. I've been SHing for years and my SI still acts up pretty badly. There is a massive difference between harming yourself and killing yourself.

Indeed there is. But there is certainly an even larger difference between doing nothing and killing myself.
I appreciate that you intend to talk me out of SH. However, I do not plan on abandoning the idea until I, at the very least, try

I seriously wouldn't encourage things like cutting or burning. There are some other things that are slightly tamer but that I still wouldn't feel comfortable suggesting.

One relatively safe method is putting cold food in your mouth. Some people use ice cubes, others use frozen fruit. This causes a bit of sensation and might hurt slightly, but is completely safe.

Other options might be writing on yourself with a pen, pinching yourself, or punching a cushion. These can be "vent" techniques that cause small amounts of sensation and serve a similar purpose to self harm without being harmful.

There really isn't and again, I'm saying this as someone who has SHed before.

I see, thanks, I will consider the cold food, although not sure if I'd feel much from that except from the disgust from the created saliva haha

good alternative methods for SH: holding ice cubes in your hands, snapping a hairtie on your wrist, smearing warming oinment on urself. this is what i got suggested in theraphy to stop cutting myself etc. and it can help with urges (and its safe)

One thing you can do is eat something really spicy and keep eating it until you can't stand it anymore and then just sit without drinking or eating anything until the "pain" from the spice is gone. Another thing is holding your breath until you can't anymore. Hmmm you can also bite yourself ig.

It's not good to self harm but I've used these techniques to help get clean from cutting. I also meditate when I feel like hurting myself it sounds stupid but it actually helps calm me down/ get my emotions under control.

I would rather not tell anyone I self-harm so I do something that is easy to hide. I just take a hair tie, put it around my wrist, twist it like a tourniquet, and keep it in place. Its been two years I've been doing this and it almost feels like a need to do every night for some reason. Honestly, don't get into hurting yourself in any way. Once you're in, its hard to get out off and only worsens the problems in the long run.

Self induced Starvation can be a form of self-harm. Another one which would fall under emotional self-harm, is to be around mean people that abuse you mentally and verbally, I do both of these if I'm really struggling with my PTSD.

I use my rope/noose as a form of self-harm. Basically I do a partial hanging while holding the rope until I just about pass out (again, holding the rope, not tying it off). The body numbness I feel coupled with the deep pressure in my throat hurts oh so good. But I admit I'm probably weird in that regard.

I do occasionally do self induced starvations, I'm crazy insecure about my appearance and weight and I am always trying to slim down by simply not eating, skipping meals etc. But lately it's been hard to deal with cravings, I've started consuming significantly more sugar and as a "punishment" for that I try to skip even more meals. So I'm not sure if I can constitute (for myself) self-induced starvation as a method of SH. But I appreciate your input!

Thank you for the intel, I'm not going to be doing that though haha, that falls in my decently extensive list of things-i-am-scared-about-at-an-unreasonable-degree

I have always been scared of SH, and I still am to this day (perhaps even more than before), but I still got addicted - it is unlikely you'll be an exception, so please do try your best to stay away from it
