Has anyone had any experience with EEG? I've read quite a few articles and papers saying it's got a high success rate.

What about Transcranial magnetic stimulation? I'm not letting anyone put electrodes in my brain but this seems less invasive?

I'm in the middle of TMS right now, never heard of eeg
The American mental health system just seems to throw drugs at you, no matter what the problem but never actually addresses the fact that what causes depression, bipolar etc is trauma. Unless you treat the cause, no matter how many pills you swallow, it'll keep coming back. But I guess it's cheaper to give you a bottle of SSRIs and say come back in three months than to offer any sort of practical means to address trauma.
I agree, even the best treatment pros I've been to didn't really help address the real causes
Highest prescribed dose of pristiq, anxiety sleep aids, have been in full in patient with severe depression and anxiety for one week and was put in partial hospitalization for 14 days. All for depression and suicidal ideation. I have never taken any drugs and have maybe one glass of wine a year at Christmas. It's been interesting at group therapy: I'm the only person there without a drug problem.
I agree, I've met really interesting people in group therapy
It's true. The only time I've ever managed to even mildly let go of my depression is when I was in a loving relationship for a few years.

If all we need is peace and hugs then why don't we all just partner up?

I'm 30, slightly overweight, depression and anxiety, dead end job and completely broke.... Any takers?
I'd be willing to

Therapies: TMS, CBT (not as in catching the bus), group therapy, talking shit (therapist)

Pills: sertraline, fluoxetine, paroxetine, citalopram, diazepam, lorazepam, quetiapine, pregabalin

Never been hospitalised or committed as I've always said to myself I'd catch the bus before ever letting that happen. One failed attempt last week.

1. Various therapies: CBT, DBT, EMDR, etc.
2. Medication: A few SSRI's, and now an atypical antipsychotic.
3. Diet/Nutrition
4. Exercise
5. Writing
6. Self-Hypnosis
7. Meditation
8. Yoga
9. Reading.

Those are the biggest ones...next up, I'm taking some expensive gut health tests...
Bacterial imbalances in the gut can cause a ton of mood issues, even if eating healthy.

Interesting about the gut thing. I went through a lot of doctors and tests - finally diagnosed with gastroparesis. I thought I was going to end up on a liquid diet!
Anyone have trauma therapy?

I don't know if EMDR counts as trauma therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). They use it a lot for that. I had a few sessions, but it wasn't very effective for me, however, I know of others that did experience some relief. It's easy enough, but in my case I think my major depression made it difficult to focus on the trauma.
Many different meds, individual therapy, group therapy, grief therapy (so many types!), EMDR, inpatient for 5 days, outpatient a couple of weeks and online groups. Time has helped with some of it. I need to remain on medication. I also find my cats are great for me - they provide a lot of support.

2 YEARS??? That's insane. How will you sneak it past them though? And you're allowed to have your phone? I wasn't. That's horrible that they've kept you that long.
I'm one lucky girl. No questions asked

Oh what country are you in? I think they would have searched the parcel in UK. I hope you find peace.

How is the TMS going? I have had ECT which worked well until the effects wore off (along with countless hospitalizations and drug regimens)

Can you do ECT more than once? How long did the effects last?

Psychotherapy and a bunch of useless talking for them to fish out information from me. In the first place they already diagnosed me with the wrong mental illness.

I've tried about ten medications and have gone to four different therapists. On my fifth one now.

I haven't been hospitalized yet but I've been talked to about both partial and full hospitalization. A psychiatrist suggested TMS but I can't afford that. Ah well.
