Negative overall. I think we are a very exploitative and corrupt species. I like some of our achievements- music, art, science, sport- whatever. I can recognise that some of our race have achieved incredible things. But ultimately, at what cost? We destroy so much too.

It doesn't make me sad to think we may destroy ourselves ultimately. I hope we do it in time for other creatures to not become extinct. I think they deserve a break from us.

currently it's wasted potential

we, as a species, have all the cognitive abilities required for everyone to cooperate and take care of both each other and our environment. but we live in a mondialized capitalist society where competition and disregard for others are the standard, and seeing where we're headed it's not getting better anytime soon. maybe in a few years or so there will be a revolution that will define a new standard, but i wouldn't bet on it

i'm not patient enough to wait to find out: this system has destroyed me for too long

I have a pessimistic view of people. I dont really like people and I feel like a majority of them have bad intentions. they're all very selfish and they destroy a lot more than they create for their own personal benefit which sucks because the world is beautiful and yet its being destroyed for that reason. I like to think there is hope, that there are good people around, but every time I feel that way I am disappointed. so my view is quite negative

I see the human species as a mistake, it's an abomination and no matter what I'd prefer to not exist than suffer in this torturous, futile existence, I'd just never wish to be conscious of anything at all, all that existence does is just cause harm and suffering with no limit as to how much one can be tortured, it's all so dreadful.

There are some smart people. There are some good people. The smart people aren't always, or perhaps even usually, good.

There are not enough good people to outnumber the ones who are either bad or don't care.

Our species largely flourishes completely by accident of being at the top of the food chain. It wouldn't take much to wipe us out, and usually we are most likely to wipe ourselves out. Ironically, most cultures vilify suicide even as they work to destroy everyone.

I am a bit of a misanthrope. My experiences have left me with a distrust in humans.

Most animals can't talk, so that makes them a lot more pleasant 😉

I think humans, overall in general are good. I sometimes imagine a world with no corruption, greed, wars, disagreements etc and wonder how beautiful it could be. Like old school communities coming together for good, being a positive impact on each other and the rest of the world around us. Nature, animals everything. I believe its been a historically tiny percentage of people that's lead to where we are today

I believe only a very primitive form of society would result in true happiness. After all, our bodies were created to be in the wild (jungles, forests) DEFINITELY not in the modern world, which is why mental illness is so common.

I really used to want to believe most humans were inherently good. But here's the thing.

IF humans were inherently good... we'd have seen that by now. IF humans were inherently good, the bad ones would be very rare and be unable to have a large scale impact as they would have trouble navigating society. IF humans were inherently good, all the easy problems would have been solved already. Why are there hungry people when there is more than enough food to feed everyone? Why are there any homeless people when there are more than enough homes in most areas, and the areas where there are not, more homes could be easily built.

IF humans were inherently good, why are there sick people not being cared for? Not all diseases have cures and not all treatments are 100% effective or come without pain or discomfort... but why is anyone ever lacking access to the available care or suffering alone?

Humans are not inherently good. If they were... we'd have seen that by now.

Most people.are selfish but I dont think thats inherently a negative. A little selfishness is needed to live a fulfilling life and to enjoy yourself. Buying yourself your favorite drink after a hard day is selfish. No like all things, too much of a good thing is bad and can harm others. I also think we live in a society that encourages and cultivates selfishness, at least in western society as thats what I am familiar with. It is the most selfish who have the most power and its the most powerful that shape many aspects of our day to day. A lot of problems in society are incredibly systemic and rooted in the fundamentals of "humanity" that many take for granted such as money and territory that we are to far gone as a species to really go back and change. So humanity overall? Not the biggest fan. I feel like a lot of people though are encouraged to act a certaint way due to societal structure. Many people are good people and understand this concept i just wanted about to some degree and are just trying their best to not only survive, but love as happily and as comfortably as possible.

A small part of humanity possess excellent qualities - real intelligence or true empathy and care for other people or animals.

Majority of humankind is complete trash though - hedonistic, overly selfish, lazy and simply stupid. World would be a much better place if there were 100 million high quality people than 8 billion of trash sacks of shit that walk this earth and waste resources. This forum luckily has a lot of good and sweet people who wouldn't hurt a fly and help a poor soul in need. But outside, when I'm in public I just despise everyone.

I always had a very high regard for humanity even though I was not given any good reason for it due all kinds of abuse and neglect. In the last few years I observed humans very closely and I started to see reality more. Most or ignorant, they lack critical thinking and humility. Still good people out there though.

Agent Smith from the Matrix:

"I'd like to share a revelation during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we are the cure."

I was about 11 years old when I first saw that, and it will always stay with me. Great quote!
