What is the worst thing your parent/s ever said to you?

They never apologise. My mother, when she knows she has pushed me too far and is scared of the consquences, i.e me disowning her, she'll also ask me if I want anything and she'll pay for it, but never an apology.

It's probably not for everyone, but damned if it wasn't the best thing I ever did for myself in my life. Like, it's a go-to thought that brings me a lot of joy. They all have no accountability for how they treat others so actually having consequences blow back on them really blindsided them.
Even if it scares or teaches them to be marginally less judgmental and mean to every other person in their life, it's something I would be proud of. No way to ever know, though.

I agree, though, it's best to manage your expectations with people like that (your mom) and never expect a genuine apology.

Mine aren't as bad as many here. I got called dummy and things like that a lot. And yelled at and blamed for everything. But most of the major disses were wrapped up in psychobabble bullshit that my dad could claim was for my own good.

One that has always stuck in my head was when he told me I could be an A if I tried harder but I'm a B. Just generally, as a person. This was when I had gotten into a good college, I played sports, I had friends... but I was 15 lbs overweight and depressed and wasn't "popular" and just generally was disgusting and disappointing to him.

Can't think of a worst thing but recently my mum said something along the lines of hoping I didn't kill myself so she hadn't wasted money on Christmas presents.

When I was in hospital after a failed OD my dad told me they were going to take me to an asylum and I'd never see any of my friends ever again to scare me into lying to the mental health team. I was completely out of it, hallucinating and everything so I believed whatever was said to me. He also told me several of my friends didn't exist and that I'd hallucinated them or made them up or something.

It's not nearly as bad as what everyone else has gone through so I guess I'm lucky. I'm really sorry to hear what you've all gone through at the hands of your parents, though. It's awful when the people who are supposed to love and care for you no matter what do the opposite. Sending you all hugs
