i'm contemplating jumping from an 8 story hotel in july. i don't know which floor i will be on but i want to know what is the minimum amount of floors to die. and what it would kind of be like.. the windows open weird (inwards and downwards) probably to prevent this kind of thing, but i'm willing to try. i really believe living is not possible.

There's a good chance of survival with horrific lasting disability, that becomes greater the lower you go under 150 feet or 45 meters. Eight stories is about half that.

Generally, 10 stories or above is what's considered the minimum for falling to death. People have died from shorter heights and have survived from much greater heights depending on the positioning of their body though. That being said, there is a likelihood you will survive but with permanent disability, as @dagger_of_truth said/

Someone here recently died, I believe, after a first attempt of falling from a building. They ended up incredibly disabled and warned people to not try this method. They eventually succeeded with SN.

Yes there was indeed a woman here on this form, she was a very kind person that warned everyone NOT TO JUMP.

She attempted to ctb by jumping 8 stories down. She survived, she was in huge pain daily. She had numerous surgeries and she was in danger to get her leg amputated. She is now finally at peace. She drank her SN just few days ago.

I would never ctb by jumping. If I didn't had SN I would have hanged myself instead.

I think falling is the most tricky of all other methods, don't you think? It's all physics at this point. Unlike suspension, gas, or SN--if you got it wrong, the aftermath is worse than these methods. If you run out of air, you'd probably just lose a few cognitive abilities or be vegetated. With falling from heights? You'll be disfigured if you survive or be disfigured AND vegetated. The pain of bones fragmented and crushed is unimaginable.

I'm not even trying to scare ya. I'd honestly rather swim into a riptide and drown. Not to mention that you might accidentally hit someone walking beneath you. Jumping is just too complicated imo. Gotta consider your weight, height, and position--what you're wearing which may slow down the acceleration of your fall, the wind that day, all that stuff.
