strangest hobby (and definitely a product of my ocd but let's not address that) is reading wikipedia pages. i have 181 currently open on my phone alone. plus a few hundred more on my desktop.

does the knowledge stick? ehhh sometimes yes sometimes no. but it's a compulsive Need to Know and occasionally i come across some really fun information so i can't complain.

some current highlights are:

postpartum psychosis
fire ecology
criticism of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints
the jakarta method
lumpenproletariat
and scandinavian colonialism
Not weird at all. I think I understand the reasoning from, I guess, a psychological standpoint. It takes a lot less dedication than reading something like a full-length novel from start to finish, yet is chock full of information and very comprehensive. It's free and at the tips of your fingers. One of the remaining few gigantic websites that hasn't turned to shit. Of course reading a Wikipedia article won't teach you everything about a topic, but it's a very good starting point for learning considering all the sources it links to. I used to do a lot similar was a kid. Maybe I wouldn't read tons and tons of Wikipedia articles, but I loved to stuff my head with random information and factoids. That kind of love for learning for the sake of learning has unfortunately withered away thanks to burnout. It's great you still have something like that :D

I have bonsai trees. Cute little leaves, twisted trucks and decades old. A bit like me, minus the cute leaves.
This will give me away but fuck it: bonsai trees (or the tree of life) are very sentimental in my family when I bought necklaces for my family with a pic of a bonsai looking tree with lots of roots. When I gave my mother and I matching necklaces I said this reminded me of her because she "has strong root." Singular. Like Miyagi. She loves Danielson. We all do, but she's the sappiest. And whatever strength I have is from her roots, because I come from "her root." It made her cry when I told her the meaning of the necklaces. It meant more in those days because we still had time then. All wasn't completely lost in her eyes, and the light hadn't 100% left my eyes, unlike now. Those were the days... only got my sibling one so they wouldn't feel left out. Got my niece one too. Although my niece deserved it because she's pure, unlike my sibling. Sorry, that's not a hobby necessarily, just a share. My uncle was shit but I still gave him a necklace I bought with "roots" and put it on him after he ctb because my mother loved her brother.
Although I did tend to buy a lot of tree of life jewelry, back when I wasn't destitute that is. I used to love to find cute little treasure jewelry trinkets, especially for a good price lol. So much of it, my makeup, clothes, hair extensions, etc etc I never got to use and is now either ruined from the climate changes or will go to waste.

What's a fun little thing you like to do in your free time? The little things you enjoy in life? It could be anything. Personally, I have a fondness for modding my Windows 10 PC and adding plugins to give it that authentic Windows 7 experience, because it reminds me of being a kid again. It's like decorating a room, but absolutely free. I also downloaded a bunch of little extras as you can see here -- Winamp stuff, the old gadgets, the calculator, the classic games and everything. I'm still adding more to this day. I've also got the old icons, taskbar, sound effects, start menu and everything. My Discord is modded to look like Windows Live Messenger. I also recently got into the habit of collecting torrents for anime fansubs -- not necessarily related to Windows 7, but that's also mostly a thing of the past nowadays.

Also, bit of a side note, but I'm horrible at card games and I always rage playing Hearts on this thing. But it's still fun.

Tell me what little things you find fun!
thats cool, i like that 7 looks like Vista, was my childhood OS.

I really like vaporwave music, been into it since 2016 and lately i've been experimenting with making my own music as well, and also started to collect vaporwave cassettes!

This thread is blowing a little life back into me, reading what other people enjoy still, so thank you for creating it.

Personally I started doing cross stitching, I usually do a lot with art, mixed media, acrylics and aquarel, but cross stitching takes the stress from creation away and allows me to concentrate on a menial task. Same for like, sorting tangled cords, gardening (mostly pulling weeds) and organizing, cleaning. Very relaxing.

I'm also really into dissecting and writing my own personal little views on poetry, mostly love Lucas Rijneveld, Sylvia Plath, Rainer Maria Rilke and Anne Carson.

I like upcycling things and mending clothes and looking at nature and figuring out which bird or plant I'm looking at. I like doing laundry.

I could go on forever, they refused to diagnose me officially through the psychiatrist with depression because I can still enjoy silly things. I just struggle with being alive because I care so fucking much.
