What if it gets worse after we die?

To be honest I hate life so much but extremely scared somehow I'll still be conscious or there will be some place where I'll still suffer after I die. Maybe like a hell or maybe ill have some type of punishment since I killed myself. Only reason I say this is because life on earth was so cruel and unfair whos to say death wil even be peace? Weather it's god or just the way it is I'm scared afterlife could be just as bad or worse maybe reincarnation.

And I know a lot of us believe when we die is just all over but still nobody actually knows . I'm fucking terrified

In my opinion the only hell anyone of us will experience is a mental state for not being kind and compassionate to our fellow humans. I like to think that this is not base reality rather we are immersed in a highly advanced simulation taking place in the minds of our eternal self and that this human body my consciousness is connected to is simply an avatar my true self uses to experience life upon this earth. To me all death is is the breaking of the connection my true self has with this avatar. I got this theory from the original 1842 Mormon temple endowment play.

As humans it's our fate to deteriorate and die, all life has evolved in a way in which to inevitably cease to exist, all that this life is, is just a temporary experience. All of those theories that people come out with about what could potentially be after this are all fictional to me and were created because the thought of non existence is something that people are unable to comprehend, they find it difficult to come to terms with the fact that their lives are simply insignificant. But in my case I only fear this nightmarish world. We are already existing in hell and that is what I fear rather than fictional beliefs. The torture that exists in this world is very real and that is the true terrifying thing.

Yes, I know what you mean- it frightens me too. If the designer of the afterlife is the same as the one who designed this world, I don't hold out much hope on it being either nice or fair. I was brought up with ideas of heaven and hell, so it's hard to banish those worries all together.

Still, I like to think the logical part of my brain, plus some of the most intelligent people I have come across have heavily persuaded me that religion and God are manmade concepts.

As a concept, it's kind of weird. If we only have one life and then an eternity in an afterlife- seems kind of bizarre to judge your future in eternity on such a (relatively) small period of time. Plus- we all have varying degrees of shit to deal with... So- some of us may be less likely to 'sin' in the first place.

I guess I just don't get it- even if we are fortunate enough to get into heaven- what are we supposed to do there?!! Life and it's struggles may well be a series of lessons but to what possible end? Sometimes I think 'choice' is our greatest gift- there is no freedom without choice. But where is 'choice' in religion? It seems more like- do this or be punished. What if you don't want the 'reward' of heaven? Do you suppose you can refuse?!! What kind of paradise is it if you're not given choice?

Funnily enough, I just googled the question: 'Can you refuse admittance into heaven?' The results were kind of interesting- some people saying that the only ones who will be admitted will be those who dedicated their lives to the cause and who religiously followed their God's teachings or perhaps unresevedly asked for repentance if they strayed off course. Kind of makes me think I'm going to hell regardless of whether I CTB or not. I'm sure I've sinned plenty and I don't believe in God or its rules enough to feel repentant for all of it.

If it's reincarnation that happens, then all these struggles could well be to teach us some important lessons. But again- to what end? Plus, if the process is supposed to be positive- then why don't the majority of us remember our past lives and past mistakes? It can't be an accumulation of knowledge if we just forget everything each time we are born.

I hope that logic will win out for me in the end. Religion's make a great deal of sense from a subjugation perspective. Where there were/ are huge masses of people who could well descend into chaos- theiving/ murdering/ commiting adultery all over the place, religion hand in hand with state laws asserts order by promising us punishment if we 'sin' and reward if we follow all the rules.

What if. That very well may happen. All we can do is prepare for the worst and hope for the best. All the important questions have no answers here. All we have are possbilities. This is the most truthful thing we know, forget what anyone else says. The human mind hates a vacuum so it fills it with lies if necessary to fill that space. Learning how to suffer is our purpose in this life. That is how you prepare. Only pleasure or suffering exist in varying degrees and if our conciousness extends beyond this decaying meat then pleasure and suffering will exist there too. Pleasure needs no system to deal with, it's effortless. Suffering sure does though. Once you learn how to suffer, you've learned all there is to learn here. I recommend checking out some NDE stories, it definitely calmed me down a bit. Especially the ones that seem crazy and impossible. Well it also depends on your beliefs, I believe that there is a heaven and a whole spirit world but because we are so mundane and so focused on our human world we don't see outside of it. I don't believe in any type of religion because all of them are man made and who can actually believe it.

I don't recommend checking out any NDE stories. I recommend reading neuroscientists, actual scientists not Christian ones, and what they have to say on the matter. Spoiler alert: nothing happens. Your brain is just a chemical and electrical machine run on oxygen and glucose and you will experience absolutely nothing once it shuts down.

I'm not terrified in the least--We're all just flesh and blood, and all things flesh and blood just cease to exist once they die. There is nothing more afterwards

This thought has deterred me for many years even when I had access to a gun (which is not that usual in Europe) and practiced hunting. It continues to do so today the fear of afterlife. However, now, when I feel very bad like nothing matters anymore I don't think about it. Whenever I obtain a peaceful way to die (which I am actively working on; gun is not an option I've read too many stories where the person would just lose their sight and/ or become paralyzed) it will be a matter of time until the next crisis to ctb with no afterthought.

I guess fear of the unknown is pretty normal. But as far as I'm concerned it can really only be one of two things. 1) There is nothing after death and our consciousness is erased. Since we are not conscious, there is no harm or evil that can befall us, therefore there is nothing to be afraid of. 2) There is an afterlife, something akin to heaven and hell. If there is a benelovent God, he will understand what lead to your untimely demise, emphatize with your suffering and might show mercy. If there isn't and you get sent to hell for it indefinitely regardless, I would not want to follow a God like that anyway. But at the same time, the certainty of there being a higher power that is judging humans for things they did during their lifetime would be extremely satisfying.
Dying might be something to be afraid of, since it might be connected to suffering. Death itself is something I never had respect or fear from. I look forward to it either way, every option is superior to my current existence.

Think about it from an ant's perspective. Do you think they are punished for their actions? Do you think they go to Hell? No. When they die, it is unceremonious and instantaneous. It is the same for humans. We are animals too, but we are the only ones that understand what death is, so we come up with ideas to make it easier to digest. It is scary to think nothing happens after we die... but it is also relieving.

I think this sums up my idea. And even if something is after this life, I do not think it will be based on good or bad deeds done (like heaven and hell in religion).
So, if we are to end like that anyway, at 18 or at 40 or at 95 years old, it won't do any difference if I do it or if old age gets me. The result is the same.
