What happens to your phones/laptops once you CBT?

In the case of suicide, do police have the right to access your phones/laptops for your loved ones to go through? Or do the devices remain locked if they don't have your PIN/password?

I don't feel like going through everything and deleting, bc it's a lot of work. I barely have energy to take care of myself, let alone deleting stuff.

Ideally, I want my devices to stay locked once I'm gone.

I mean... if I'm dead I don't care at all... If I don't die, then, yeah... some things could be embarrassing... but... I wanted to be dead, so that took priority for me in the moment... and I'd probably be hoping to try again and not really caring.

i have no knowledge about whether theyre allowed to do that or not, but if they are allowed to - ur pin or password is not enough to lock them outside. For example the data on ur hard drive is not encrypted simply by having a Windows password. The data can still be accessed and read by swapping the hard drive onto another device. About ur phone I am not sure as nowadays alot of stuff gets cloud backed up but I would say just Factory reset and delete backups before , atleast its faster than deleting everything manually. For PC/Laptop - if u do not want to factory reset, i would recommend encrypting using Veracrypt, the police can not access ur computer without the Encryption password even if you were a criminal/hacker and they had a warrant to (example to show how good it is)

Gotcha. My worst fear is surviving an attempt and then having all of the necessity to survive today's society gone That would be such a pain in the ass.

That's the only downside of getting rid of everything, I suppose. Hence why I gotta succeed.

Is there a version of Veracrypt but for mobile phones? I don't use my laptop that much, so it's not a concern. It's my phone that I rather people not having access to.

There's no taboo contents on my phone. But lots of footprints of how my mental health detoriated, and I don't want my loved ones to blame themselves for "all the signs" they missed while I was still alive.

I'm not 100% sure but I think they would go through your phone. Having a PIN or password wouldn't stop them. When I was arrested they asked me to unlock my phone. When I asked my lawyer he said they'd access it either way but if I unlock it it makes it easier. I would do a factory reset and just wipe everything if you're concerned they might find something.

As far as im aware theres no public encryption apps for iPhone atleast , but i am pretty sure theres some sort of way to Jailbreak and do it, which wont be ideal if ur not a techy guy and would be harder than just deleting stuff. And goodluck.

If there's a PIN, someone could use your fingerprint to access your PC or email… you'd have to format your PC and phone to be safe.

If you plan to use your PC/phone to check something at the time of CTB, you could use incognito mode with your phone battery low, or create a USB stick with a temporary OS, or use a virtual machine.

I don't worry for the police as much as I worry for my family. I don't want them to be guilt ridden with all the mental health related stuff on my phone... ಥ⁠‿⁠ಥ
