Right haha, and I know that logically but I guess my mind likes to dwell on irrational concerns.

In the Bible it says that your consciousness ends when breath life ends. So u will have no recollection of anything about your life when u lose conciousness. You remain in this state until Jesus returns to collect believers, but if u aren't a believer than u just die and that's it. Nothing happens afterward. Your body goes back into the dirt. From what my minister says there is no firey torture hell if u weren't a believer in Jesus or God.

In my 50's now. Raised as a Catholic. Discounted all that as bullshit at 12 and started off on a spiritual quest.

I do believe in Buddhist doctrine these days, but I'd hesitate to call myself a Buddhist.

There's a lot of empirical scientific evidence to prove that reincarnation is a thing outside of religious belief, the main source being Dr. Ian Stevenson's work.

I did regression hypnosis, and couldn't believe how stupid 'I' was in my past lives. I don't think could have been friends with any of those people!

In short, it all comes down to the First Law of Thermodynamics: Energy can be changed from one form to another, but it cannot be created or destroyed.

I believe consciousness is such an energy, but ego and id are disposable constructs that get discarded upon death.

If our life/consciousness/soul is a form of energy then it makes sense. Interesting theory.

Personally I believe it will be one of two things:

either we completely cease to exist and our consciousness disintegrates into complete nothingness, kinda like before you were born(?).

Or, we somehow get reincarnated as a random lifeform. I find it hard to believe that I've only existed once during the billions of years our universe has existed. There could also be an infinite number of universes that we just don't know of, and possibly something beyond that as well. As far as I know the possibilities are endless.

it would continue to exist in a different form if death isnt normal (suicide , accidental death , murder etc ) (according to dharmic religions ) , i tend to mildly believe in this , i dont know i have been looking for reasons for my suffering all life , some people just suffer , cant be completely random , a soul returns to the source once it has balanced its Karma , and has accepted Acknolwedged the Source . this theory makes sense to me , if it was all random ,, the suffering of life goes unexplained . I do not believe the Abrahamic explanation ::the real life starts after death ,
