I've been having suicidal thoughts for years. I even stayed at a mental hospital twice for wanting to kill myself. My method of choice is train. I think it would be the least painful and least probablity of failure. I'm not sure if I should lay on the rails or stand up straight. I considered SN but i think it's too complicated. Anyway my family would be sad but who cares? Sorry for bad english.

I think it's a shitty, unethical method. You'll traumatize at least the train's driver, if not many passengers.

It's also possible to derail or damage the train and actually injure or kill other innocent people.

I like quick deaths. I wouldn't dare, but I think it's a good method.

I'm against any method where you can traumatize or injure another person.

Honestly I wouldn't want to drag other people into my problems. That would be traumatizing for the driver and possibly the passengers.
And if my SI kicked in I might get far enough out of the way to live but be gruesomely injured.

Suicide by train is also one of my maybe-methods. I'd lay down on my belly with my neck on the rail, do it at night and perhaps cover my body with a blanket or a tarpaulin to minimize trauma for the train conductor. You could also stand on the rails, but that would cause a much bigger mess.

I think it would be so painful and also very unfair on the train driver

Someone will have to clear up the mangled bits of flesh from the track & the Locomotive. There are a lot more people involved in a fatal rail incident than just the train crew.
And, of course, even if SI doesn't kick in at the last seconds, you may finish up losing limbs or mental faculties but still surviving if a piece of Loco furniture or fittings flings you aside.

This is just my opinion which I know is super controversial here but I don't see anything wrong with this method aside from the chances of failure due to SI of course. People keep on fixating about the trauma caused to the train driver but refuse to acknowledge that the reason why people even resort to brutal, barbaric methods like these in the first place is because these methods are the only methods available. For as long as society doesn't legalise euthanasia and other peaceful methods, it's fair play to go through methods like these. Society forced people to do methods like these so your anger should be directed at them, not at the suicidal person who just wants an escape out of this shitty and atrocious life

I've seen/heard a lot about train deaths on the news, and it's very traumatizing for any potential passengers, the trains driver, amongst other things. As someone else stated, you can put others at risk of death and/or possibly damage the train. Although most likely quick, I don't think it'd be beneficial in the long run.

I didn't say anything. I find it really in bad taste to make the desperate suicidal person feel guilty. A person kills themselves that way because they have no choice.

If SI is not a concern it is a very reliable method. I'm not sure if its more traumatizing to others than jumping.

To be blunt, its messy, and people have to clean up the mess. I've always thought of hanging as my way out, the least messiest way to ctb. You ask at the end of your question "who cares?" believe it or not, people do care about you. As you said, you've been suicidal for years, ditto on that for me. I hate it and its horrible :(

personally, i don't think i'd be able to do something so violent and messy. i'd just be thinking about the people who'd have to clean my body off of the tracks, lol.

Enough people already told you about traumatizing others. Before being suicidal, I thought that it's a very egoistic method, it's really sad for the train crew, police, emergency services etc... but as I was getting desperate, I attempted that way too. What stopped me and I think also many others, was Survival Instinct.

Everything points to NO!! You have no right to traumatize others. I hope peace finds you but involving innocent people is wrong. Please reconsider that idea!

first, I'm sorry you are feeling this way OP and I hope you feel better. This seems like an awful method. It's extremely painful, and will traumatize the conductor, passengers, and anyone who comes across a grim sight like that.

No anger towards op or anybody who's chosen this method out, but train conductors, passengers, police , cilvians , etc aren't law makers, they shouldn't be subjected to that.

Absolutely valid method. Why should I care if someone some members of society get traumatized or come late to work? They have no symphathy for me, want to keep me alive in this mental hell by making an dignified assisted suicide illegal.

I also don't see, why one should not attempt ctb by using this method. With the traumatising thing: What is a method where there's NOT the possibility of traumatising others? Someone has to find you at one point and there is a chance that they will be traumatised. As for the cleanup: There is a specific job where people clean up crime scenes, accidents etc., so they do that for a living and I don't think that they would have a problem to see parts of the human body laying around as it is their job to see these things basically.

If one does not have another option, there is absolutely no problem to ctb by this one in my opinion.

Yet those people are against the right to die and are okay with suicidal people having no peaceful way out of here. The reason as to why people resort to methods like these is because of society and, whether you like to admit it or not, the people who you mentioned are a part of society

Train was absolutely my favourite way to go until I realized there are no high speed trains running in my area. It's devastating. But as someone else said, in a society that practically criminalizes suicide, we're not the ones guilty of traumatizing anyone. The pro-lifers are guilty for making people suffer.

Witnessing your death in real-time is different from finding your body. And different yet from simply observing it (and both this and the former can be traumatic) is actually being made to be *party* to it. Do you guys see the substantive difference?

Let's try to eschew rationalizations. An attitude of indifference isn't going to help our cause.
