I haven't read a book in a while, but the last book I've read was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This book reminds me of my happy childhood. The only time in my life when i was truly happy.

I'm reading the witcher: baptism in fire right now. It's not a philosophy or political book though.

I'm currently reading both The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and Cultish by Amanda Montell. Although they both kinda cover philosophy, I wouldn't really call them philosophy books.

I haven't read anything in months because of my mood, but the last thing I read were Moore's two essays against skepticism. Moore was definitely a yapper

Unseen by Molly Burke. It's the memoir of a blind woman/content creator/activist who shares with us what her life was like and how she found her voice. She has a YouTube channel too.

I am currently reading two books. The frist one is The Hyena & the Hawk it the third in the series. It's a fantasy series.

The second one is Cosmos & Psyche by Richard Taras. He is a cultural historian & professor of philosophy and depth psychology. I definitely find it as an interesting read.

I'm reading picture of Dorian Gray and meditations by Marcus Aurelius. The first one is a fictional novel by Oscar Wilde and it explores themes like the relationship between moral and beauty, individualism and hedonism (I still have about 90 pages left). I have really enjoyed it.

What are your recommendations for entry level books to philosophy?

What kind of philosophy are you interested in? In general I would advise sticking to the more practical stuff. Stoicism is already a very good start. Maybe supplement it with some eastern wisdom texts like the tao te ching or the dhammapada?

I'm interested in existentialism and ethical philosophy. Meditations is the first "proper" philosophical book I'm reading. Nietzsche's and Dostoevsky's philosophy are something I want to get into. I also find the overlap between psychology and philosophy interesting. I've thought about reading Carl Jung.

Nietzsche is difficult because he builds on and critiques a lot of prior philosophy. Maybe you want to look at some of the people he's been influenced by first or read a book about him rather than by him?

Essays and Aphroisms by Arthur Schopenhauer deals with the topics you mentioned and is very readable.

On the Suffering of the World is another approachable place to start with Schopenhauer. It's also a collection of essays and there's probably some repeats from Essays and Aphorisms but I thought it gave a good, concise picture of his philosophy.

If you actually want to get into reading western philosophy the go to are platos dialogues.

Platos dialogues--specifically his earlier open ended ones--provide a great introduction into philosophical thinking since they force the reader to critically engage with the text. Many of his dialogues are also very short.

You'd also probably want to read him if you plan on reading nietzsche.

I think either euthyphro or the apology are the best dialogues to start with.

I'm reading a book called "He Started It." It's part mystery and part horror. I like it so far!

I love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Did you see the original film with Gene Wilder?

Small Boat by Vincent Delecroix. It's a fiction book but based on a true story about refugees travelling from France to England on small boats. It was a bit of an uncomfortable read at times but raises some really important moral questions

I'm more into thriller and horror, currently reading Bath Haus by PJ Vernon. I find the characters to be insufferable but the audiobook is fun. I recommend Three Body Problem by Liu Cixin, Permutation City by Greg Egan, and His Master's Voice by Stanisław Lem for some sci-fi/ horror mindfucks that make you think.

The Divine Comedy

I find it quite cathartic, it's just a fanfic a lot of the time, but it does show what true suffering is which to me is a form comfort. I just find older reads like that to have more meaning, since there was less expectations at the time, and it shows our real more primal fears. From the read so far I believe that our biggest fear is of that of which we do not understand. It's not a fear of the unknown per say, it's that we want knowledge, and when are denied it or cannot understand it; it's insanity!
